A Third Of Pediatricians Still Don't Do Developmental Screenings
[Source: Disability Scoop]

[Source:  Medical X-Press]

Maternal obesity may increase a child's risk for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), according to an analysis by researchers from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), part of the National Institutes of Health. The researchers found that mothers-but not fathers-who were overweight or obese before pregnancy were more likely to report that their children had been diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or to have symptoms of hyperactivity, inattentiveness or impulsiveness at ages 7 to 8 years old. Their study appears in The Journal of Pediatrics.

[Source: Your Therapy Source]

Visual spatial processing skills that involve fine motor skills and integrating motor information are very important to develop during the early childhood years. Previous research tells us that early fine motor skills are significantly associated with later achievement. Current research wanted to answer the question how early visual spatial processing skills and fine motor coordination skills predict later school performance.

Learning Difficulties Due to Poor Connectivity, Not Specific Brain Regions
[Source: Science Daily]

Different learning difficulties do not correspond to specific regions of the brain, as previously thought, say researchers. Instead poor connectivity between 'hubs' within the brain is much more strongly related to children's difficulties.
