School Board Honors Susan Heil

The Board voted unanimously to name the courtyard at Fayetteville High School the "Susan Winborn Heil Courtyard" to honor Susan Heil for her seventeen years of service on the Fayetteville Board of Education. She served on the school board from 2001 to 2018, including serving as president from 2008 to 2012. 
Recognition Agenda

Happy Hollow Elementary school nurse  Jacki Tighe received an Above & Beyond Award from the Education Committee of the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce for her outstanding work with students. 
Facilities Plan Approved

The Board voted unanimously to approve the Stage 1 Project Plan for Facilities, which includes renovations of the District Warehouse and Transportation Office, upgrades to the softball field, and purchase of the Lewis Field property. 
Reimbursement Resolution Approved

The Board voted unanimously to approve a reimbursement resolution to allow the district to use future bond proceeds to reimburse the district for expenditures made to repair and renovate facilities.
Safety & Security Plan Approved

The Board voted unanimously to approve the SafePlan/Safety & Security Task Force Prioritization as presented by Dr. Megan Slocum, Associate Superintendent for Support Services. 
Policy Changes Approved

The Board voted 6 -0 to approve proposed revisions to three current policies and one new policy: 
  • 5.40 - Homeless Students (revision)
  • 5.42 - Student Handbook (revision)
  • 4.53 - Service Animals on School Grounds (new)
  • 4243 - Classified Leave Policy (revision)
Proposed Policy Changes

Dr. Larry Ben, Associate Superintendent for Administrative Services, presented proposed changes to four district policies: 
  • 3.12 - English Language Learners (Revision)
  • 5.51 - ALE Program Evaluation (Revision)
  • 5.67.1 - Extracurricular Activity Eligibility for Home Schooled Students
  • 6.13 - Parent, Family, and Community Engagement for English
    Language Learners (Revision)

The Board will vote on the proposed changes at their October meeting.
