Here's what's new on the Nobles County 4-H website this month!

Nobles County 4-H has several opportunities for exploratory learning for youth ranging in age from Kindergarten-6th Grade! Come check out our 5 summer programs happening in July, all of which happen in varying areas of Nobles County!


2018 Nobles County Fair detailed schedule

Are you ready for the Nobles County Fair?! Here's a schedule for you which has ALL OF THE DETAILS you may need! This Schedule includes Performance Day, Pre-Fair Clean Up, Livestock Pen/Gate set up, Stall Card Hanging, Office moving to the Fair, Dog Show & Set Up, show schedules, ID & Weigh In times, and awesome fairboard planned activities.

Please note the fair is a week prior to it usually take place. This year, we have also altered our Livestock Show Schedules- TAKE NOTE!


July Cloverbuds-"Amazing Race"

The next Cloverbud meeting will be on Tuesday, July 10th from 6:00-7:30 p.m., under the Plaza at the Nobles County Fairgrounds.

The Clovers 4-H Club is planning the activities for this month's meeting, with the theme of Amazing Race! The Clovers ask that all youth participating wear clothes they can run and get dirty in, and absolutely NO Flip Flops/Sandals!
  RSVP by July 6th.




County Fair help sign up

This year, to sign up for county fair helper jobs, we will be using SignUp Genius. This is the same website used to sign up for shifts at the 4-H foodstand!

On July 1st, Katie will send out the link for SignUp Genius to the Ambasadors via email and text message. The Ambassadors will have 
one week to to sign up for their choice of jobs, then on July 5th, Katie will email out the SignUp Genius Link to the Youth Leader aged youth (6th grade & Up) for them to choose a job if they would like!

Pre & Post-Fair clean up shifts

Clubs! Please don't forget your designated Pre-Fair and Post Fair Clean Up Shifts!

Pre-Fair Clean Up Shifts take place on Saturday, July 21st and Monday, July 23rd. Post Fair Clean Up takes place Sunday, August 5th! We will need all hands on deck to make these days go smoothly!

Alright Livestock Families, we need your help with pen/gate set up! Each Livestock Committee has set up their own time to set up pens/gates and need all the bodies and muscle that we can get!

Remember your foodstand shifts!

Don't forget to sign up for your foodstand shift today! It is expected that any youth participating in the Nobles County Fair (with the exception of Cloverbuds) will serve the appropriate amount of time at the 4-H Foodstand. It is also expected that one parent/adult from each household serve a foodstand shift as well.

The foodstand shifts are organized by day and time. Certain jobs are designed for older youth, adults or younger youth. Please find one that works within your schedule!

July Federation meeting celebration!

The July Advisory Board meeting will take place on Monday, July 16th at 6:00 PM.
The annual July Federation Meeting Picnic will begin at 6:30 PM, with the July Federation Meeting to follow at 7:00 PM. Any youth who participated in ISE, 4-H Camp, YELLO, or Ambassador program, please plan to attend the meeting and report back on your summer experiences!

This year, the Advisory Board decided to treat our families for a celebration of the accomplishments and volunteer time they've put into our program in 2017-2018 by providing the meal for the picnic. Please RSVP by July 12th

Reminder: What is your current LQA&E status?
You don't want to forget to have a current LQA&E status! LQA&E stands for Livestock Quality Assurance & Ethics, and this is a training for youth who show livestock. ALL youth who plan to attend the Minnestoa State Fair must have a current LQA&E Status in 4-H online. In Nobles County, youth who show Swine also must have a current LQA&E status to adhere to the PQA rules.

2018 Ribbon Sale Update

Message from Dorothy: 4-H and agriculture: Preparing youth for a lifetime of impact
Associate dean and state 4-H director Dorothy Freeman encourages youth and the adults who support them to explore an agrisciece project this year. It's a great way to build skills, connect with mentors and find real solutions to challenges in your community!
 
Powerful things happen for youth when they're in a positive relationship with caring adults. The 2018 annual volunteer training, "4-H Grows Relationships," will ready youth and adult volunteers to connect to young people in meaningful ways. Watch for dates and locations across the state this fall and plan to bring a team of youth and adult volunteers.
 
Congratulations to the 2018 Minnesota 4-H scholarship recipients! These eight outstanding 4-H youth and alumni from across Minnesota stood out among over 100 individuals who submitted applications.
 
Again in 2018 the Minnesota Livestock Breeders Association will be providing $30 cash awards to all 4-H members who complete a livestock demonstration during 4-H livestock weekend at the Minnesota State Fair. Start planning your livestock demonstration today!
 
Two scholarships are being offered for Minnesota 4-H youth pursuing post-secondary studies at accredited colleges and universities. Over $58,000 is awarded annually through a competitive application process.
