Local Special Olympians who were supported by The Arc Southern Maryland and competed at the recent Special Olympic Maryland Summer Games were celebrated June 13 at The Arc's Prince Frederick office.

The Arc Maryland Convention

The Arc Southern Maryland attended The Arc Maryland convention on June 8th. The convention included an awards ceremony which recognized community members and people from chapters of The Arc across Maryland, all of whom are doing outstanding things to create opportunities for people with I/DD and support The Arc's mission. Congrats to the following award winners, nominated by our chapter:

Climbing the Ladder to Success!
Congrats to the following employees on their recent promotions to Assistant Managers of Community Supports! Their new role will help us to increase the utilization of personal support services and ensure the individuals we support are engaging in events and activities within their local communities. They will also be responsible for ensuring that we remain focused on the goals of the individuals we support and for maintaining accurate attendance records and goal documentation, among other tasks.
Tamika Harrod was promoted to Assistant Manager of Community Supports in Calvert County. Tamika was previously a Senior Vocational Support Professional and has been with The Arc since 2004.
Shannon Bihamta was promoted to Assistant Manager of Community Supports in Charles County. She was previously a Senior Vocational Support Professional and has been with The Arc since 2016.
Megan Herren was promoted to Assistant Manager of Community Supports in Calvert County. She was previously a Senior Vocational Support Professional and has been with The Arc since 2015.
