It's been almost 4 months that Robert has been off the streets and out from under the bridge in Concord which he once called "home." Recently Robert and Julie, CCEH Assistant Clinical Director (seen in photo), visited in person for the first time since Robert became housed. Robert is making tremendous strides with regards to his health, working on his recovery, advocating for himself and his needs, tending to a garden he planted from scratch, and beaming with smiles. As Robert said today "It took you, Julie, walking the goat path many days over several weeks to make me finally realize I do deserve a place to call home, and I thank you and everyone at CCEH for believing in me." WAY TO GO ROBERT!!!!

Housing for all!
SO, how do we continue to have such success stories? With more
Permanent Supportive Housing

CCEH is excited to be taking the next step in ending homelessness in Concord -
we are
purchasing a building
at 10 Green Street, and converting it into four one-bedroom apartments!
These apartments will allow the Coalition to house people who otherwise might wait eight years or more to get a subsidized apartment. This is a big new step for CCEH - providing our own housing for our clients.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to house four people,” Executive Director Ellen Groh says. “It’s a small dent in the overall issue, but it’s a dent.”
|
|
The apartments will be subsidized to house formerly homeless individuals. Tenants will be supported by caseworkers. They will contribute no more than one-third of their total income to rent.
The project will be supported by a loan from the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority which requires the Coalition to operate the building as Section 8 housing for 40 years. After that, the loan may be forgiven.
Our plans were approved by the City of Concord Zoning Board and we are moving on to the Planning Board... Stay tuned!

The RC continues to welcome our guests with dignity and respect Mondays through Fridays, offering caseworker support, computers and coffee. From July 2018 to July 2019 we have seen a 33% growth in the number of people who came, with 29 first time guests this past month alone. July saw 48 loads of laundry done, 138 showers taken, and about 1,400 pieces of mail received for guests. We also offer monthly haircuts, and now offer HIV testing on Wednesdays, a recovery group run by CHOICES peer support on Thursdays, and the
Capitol Area Public Health Network
of Granite United Way has joined our providers in offering Hepatitis A shots.
