DHS Site Access Letter Addendum Available
In March and again in June, the MAB distributed letters to stations from the Department of Homeland Security's Cyber-Security and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). The letters are a precaution with the current COVID-19 emergency and grants broadcasters access to studio and transmitter facilities in the event of a shelter-in-place order or road closures. FEMA has Supplied the MAB with Face Masks for Michigan Broadcasters
The Federal Emergency Agency (FEMA) has supplied the MAB a significant quantity of face masks for state broadcasters to be distributed to all radio and television stations. This is part of FEMA's effort to supply all essential communications workers with masks. PPP Loan-Funded Expenses Nondeductible If Borrower Has "Reasonable Expectation" Loan Will Be Forgiven
The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), created by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, provides for loans to individuals and businesses with the unique feature that the loans could be forgiven, under certain circumstances, to the extent that advanced funds were used to pay payroll costs, certain mortgage interest, covered rent and covered utilities (eligible expenses). WBET Raises More Than $101K for Local United Way
Super Hits 99.3 WBET-FM (Sturgis) recently held their 11th Annual St. Joseph County United Way RadioThon, raising a much needed $101,931.18 for area United Way agencies! The on-air event, usually held on the Thursday just before Memorial Day weekend, was pushed back to the Fall of 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 RadioThon is on the calendar for May 27.

Student Awards Entry Deadline Extended to January 19 after MDHHS Emergency Order
The MDHHS "Pause to Save Lives" Emergency Order has mandated that high schools and universities move to virtual learning through the week of December 7. In light of this, we have decided to extend the entry deadline for the Michigan Student Broadcast Awards to Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 3:00 pm EST. Entries must have been created and produced from January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020.
