Wellness in Action
Brielle Giard shares a summer camp idea that they have created in the spirit of Living Compass.

"It's the Wonderful Wisdom of God"

During our week of VBA (Vacation Bible Adventure), Christ Episcopal Church in Cedar Park, Texas, connected all the characters from the Wizard of Oz to loving God with all your heart (Tin man), soul (Dorothy), strength (Lion), and mind (Scarecrow). Glenda the Good Messenger comes and tells Dorothy that to find her way she must follow the Wonderful Wisdom of God, the greatest commandment to love God and to love others. She meets a new character each night to talk about heart, soul, strength and mind. The children started with music and skits and then off to workshops including crafts, games and science. They even fed their heart, soul, strength and mind at the Living Compass Cafe (snack rotation). We had 40 kids participate in the program. While the kids were in VBA, our rector offered a parent wellness group on family resilience.
