A reader's recent note ended with this thought: I have been rereading a lot of old favorite books. They're like comfort food for the soul. Mac and cheese on the page, so to speak.
|
I love the simile, especially since mac and cheese was a classic in my house when I was a child. My mom made a no-sauce casserole with cheese slices, a style she'd learned from her mother.
It remained such a favorite that decades later, she often made it (in the same casserole dish!) when Mr. Ernst and I visited.
|
During this challenging holiday season, I'm trying to savor small comforts. I hope you are as well! Preparing a favorite casserole, or disappearing into a beloved book, can lift spirits. I'm hoping to lift readers' spirits by offering a Chloe Giveaway! Read on for more information.

When I partnered with the Mount Horeb Area Historical Society and Group Travel Directors last year to plan a trip to Norway, COVID-19 wasn't on the radar.
Once it hit we forged ahead, hopeful that we'd all feel safe traveling by May, 2021. The planning committee agreed that having something wonderful to anticipate could only brighten such difficult times.
Well, we get to enjoy that anticipation for a while longer. The Chloe Ellefson tour to Norway has been officially postponed; we now hope to travel in spring, 2022.
I'm as excited about this trip as ever, and we are committed to making it happen. When we do arrive in Norway, we shall have special toasts all around! For a brochure, click HERE.

I recently had a wonderful conversation with my new publisher about nitty-gritty details of the 11th Chloe mystery, The Weaver's Revenge. The book is starting to feel real!
Many of you have asked when the book will be available for pre-order or purchase. (Thank you!) The great news? We still expect the book to be in print sometime this spring.
We agree, however, that the world is still too uncertain to name a specific publication date at this time. The pandemic has caused turmoil in the printing and shipping industries, resulting in unexpected delays.
I really don't want to name a date and schedule launch events only to learn that the book can't be delivered in time. When it's available for pre-order, though, you'll be the first to know! In the mean time, I'll release some additional "sneak-peeks" (including a video) about The Weaver's Revenge.
|
I'm also thinking about other ways we can connect virtually this winter. If you have any suggestions or requests, let me know. And please, stay safe and well. Mr. Ernst and I (and our feline muse Eliza) wish you joy...and comfort!
Warm Regards,
P.S. -- Do you ever purchase books online? Please consider shopping at Bookshop.org, which supports independent bookstores. They're struggling and truly need our help.
