Forge Ahead: Library Makeover
2019 CTCC Project of the Year

Cranberry Public Library is excited to have been chosen as the Cranberry Township Community Chest's 9th Annual Project of the Year!

The project will be the largest ever for CTCC, with an estimated price tag of $750,000. The scope of the project can be summarized in four parts.

1. Makerspaces have become all the rage in schools over the past decade. Think of them as small workshops, outfitted with tools ranging from high tech to no tech at all. What they share in common are work areas designed for collaboration and equipped for making things in a hands-on learning environment. It's an idea which has gone outside of classrooms to include private makerspaces, foundation supported shops, commercial prototyping studios, and now our very own public library!

2. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology will be implemented to assist with more reliable and faster checkouts.

3. American Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility will help eliminate difficulties of entering and exiting the library by the installation of automatic sliding doors. In addition, specialized programming within the new makerspace will be adapted for an all-inclusive environment serving the needs of all abilities.

4. Energy and environmental improvements form the installation of new energy efficient LED lighting, light enhanced painting, environmental friendly carpeting and an improved ergonomics layout that will include updating the staff area will be the final part of the project.

There is no asset used more in our community by everyone from the very young to seniors than our library. We're looking forward to forging ahead!

Mindfulness Painting
Tuesday, August 14 @ 6PM
The purpose of mindfulness painting is not to create a work of art; rather, to allow the rhythmic movement of the brush to serve as a moving meditation. Canvas and paints provided, but there is a $5.00 materials fee, payable at the program. Class size is limited and registration is required.
