Your October 6, 2019, Morgan Hill Weekly 411
Good morning Morgan Hill!

The City just received information from PG&E that Morgan Hill will likely be impacted by a large scale PG&E Public Safety Power Shutdown that will include much of the Bay Area starting this Wednesday, October 9th.

  • Be prepared to be without power for up to 5 days.

More information should be available soon. Please be aware that all scheduled meetings and events for the week ahead are subject to cancellation based upon whether or not the PG&E Public Safety Power Shutdown occurs.

Healthy Aging Week is happening now! Be sure to look into the wide range of activities, workshops, information, including a Senior Resource Fair currently scheduled for Thursday, October 10. It is a FREE event at the Community & Cultural Center, and all are welcome to attend.

We'd also like to draw your attention to a profile recently published about Morgan Hill's Economic Development Manager, John Lang. We are very fortunate to have John Lang and the expertise he brings to the table working for the benefit of the Morgan Hill community.

A Special City Council Meeting is currently scheduled for this Wednesday, October 9th at 7:00 p.m. The only item on the agenda is an update on the 2019 State Housing Legislation and its impacts to Morgan Hill. We encourage the community to attend. If you are unable to attend the meeting will be broadcast on Channel 17 and streamed live on the city's website. The recording of the meeting will also be available online.
Have a safe week ahead and be prepared!

A Community Advisory Group was formed as a way to have a group of residents very involved in this conversation and process. The group has been meeting monthly since June. View the most recent meeting held on September 28th. .
The next Engage Morgan Hill Community Advisory Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 26th from 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. in the City Council Chamber. We will be discussing city housing, growth and homelessness.

for the Fall CERT Training Program
A great way to become prepared is to go through Morgan Hill's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training. Following a large-scale disaster, you may need to be self-sufficient for a minimum of 3 days. CERT training will teach you to better prepare, respond, and recover from fires, floods, earthquakes, and other local disasters we cannot predict.

The CERT curriculum includes emergency preparedness best practices and hands on experience in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, disaster psychology, and disaster medical operations.

CERT Basic Training is free to South Santa Clara County residents. High School students are also invited to attend and may receive community service hours.

This fall 2019 opportunity takes place on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-9:30 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Police Department beginning on October 9th. The last day of class students practice their skills at a disaster simulation and celebrate their graduation on Saturday, November 23rd.

As always, we look forward to your ongoing engagement in community life and our local Morgan Hill government.

Current Watering Schedule
Water is always a precious resource in Morgan Hill and with this in mind, our permanent watering restrictions have been designed to best manage the City's potable water supply. These restrictions will help us avoid or minimize the effects of drought, climate change and the unreliability of the imported water infrastructure that serves the City of Morgan Hill.

Complete rules and restrictions can be found in  Water Waste Ordinance No. 2236 .

Customers can report water waste  online  or by calling the Water Waste Hotline at 408-310-4195.
