Clean Sweep is just around the corner!

Cal Anderson Park
Kick off Pride Month by helping to clean the streets and public spaces of Capitol Hill. A local favorite! We'll feed you, give you a stylish t-shirt (first come, first-served) and all the tools you'll need to give our neighborhood a nice polish. Register as an individual or team today!
We'll gather in the morning at
Cal Anderson Park for coffee and pastries before dispersing to clean the streets of Capitol Hill (thanks
Starbucks!). After the clean-up, volunteers will be treated to music and
Sizzle Pie pizza and ice-cream (thanks
Umpqua bank!) in the park.

Office of Economic Development Launches Small Business Advocate Office Hours in Capitol Hill

Listening to what small business owners and operators are concerned about and keeping City Hall informed of what they're hearing in the small business community is an essential part of what
Small Business Advocates do in the Office of Economic Development (OED).
Starting this month, Michael Wells
, Small Business Advocate at the
City of Seattle OED will
setting up regular monthly office hours on Capitol Hill, as well as the other neighborhood business districts. The idea is to make it easier for small business owners to speak to an OED Small Business Advocate by bringing the office to the neighborhood.
This month Michael will be setting up shop at Café Solstice, 925 Thomas Street on Wednesday, May 23, from 10am-2pm. Joining him from 12-2pm will be
Egan Orion, the Broadway Business Improvement Area (BIA) Administrator and
Phillip Sit, the City's BIA Advocate. No appointment is needed, but

Capitol Hill Design Guidelines Open House

Capitol Hill is experiencing a phase of rapid growth. Since the neighborhood design guidelines were adopted in 2005, nearly 50 new building designs have gone through the Design Review program and received development permits. As the neighborhood continues to grow, the City of Seattle is teaming up with Capitol Hill Housing, the Capitol Hill EcoDistrict and local community members to update the existing Capitol Hill Neighborhood Design Guidelines, which will serve as a guide for future development throughout all areas within the Capitol Hill Urban Center.
We are hosting a Community Open House on Wednesday, May 30th to share the Draft Guidelines and hear what you think of them. The draft guidelines will be ready for your review on the
OPCD website before the open house at the end of the month. Join our staff to learn more and share your opinions
