Canada Day Celebration
The City of Vaughan is hosting its award-winning annual Canada Day celebration on Sunday, July 1, from noon - 8 p.m. at the Boyd Conservation Area located at 8739 Islington Ave. This year's event will be larger and more lively than ever before with Mocha Frap from KiSS 92.5 joining us as the host of our headline entertainment.

Municipal Closures

Vaughan City Hall, Joint Operations Centre, Vaughan Animal Services and Vaughan Public Libraries will be closed on Monday July 2.    Visit vaughan.ca for more details. 

The Service Excellence Journey Continues
The City of Vaughan is proud to report on the incredible progress made on the Term of Council Service Excellence Strategy Map (2014-2018) . The Service Excellence Journey brochure informs citizens on the progress Vaughan Council has made on their strategic goals.
Vaughan's Metropolitan Centre (VMC) is Experiencing a Transformation
During a meeting of the VMC sub-committee Mayor Bevilacqua spoke about the Smart City Advisory Task Force, which was created to ensure and reinforce improvements to the quality of life for Vaughan citizens and to change the way city-building is approached and undertaken.
Spirit of Generosity Soars
During the 2018 Mayor's Gala, Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua highlighted the spirit of generosity that radiates throughout the city of Vaughan, including announcing a historic $20-million donation by TACC Group and Fieldgate Group of Companies to go toward the construction of the Giovanni De Gasperis and Eugene Kohn Learning Centre at Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital.
Renewed Commitment to Investment-Ready Planning Best Practices
The Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) and the City of Vaughan made a commitment at an event on June 18, to use best practices to undertake developments, using investment-ready planning that addresses both the challenges and opportunities that come with growth.
Naming Ceremony Held to Honour Vaughan Resident
On June 12, the Mayor and Members of Council attended a naming ceremony, held in honour of the late Sergio Tagliavini, for the area surrounding the Monument for Fallen Italian Workers. This site was selected because of Mr. Tagliavini's involvement in erecting the memorial at Woodbridge Memorial Arena. 

There is Still Time to Register for Summer Camps
With more than 60 summer camps, Vaughan has something for everyone!Registration is ongoing. Save your spot at vaughan.ca/RecOnline or in-person at any community centre.
Citizen Satisfaction Survey is Underway
Ipsos is now conducting telephone surveys on behalf of the City to gather input on a range of topics and services. Calls will be placed in the evening, and will take approximately 12 to 15 minutes. An online survey is also available at vaughan.ca/citizensurvey.
 
Are you on the Voters List?
Make sure you are ready for this year's municipal election by getting on the Voters List! Ontario's municipal and school board elections take place on Oct. 22, 2018. If you are a resident, owner or tenant of property in Ontario, a Canadian citizen and 18 years of age or older, you can vote in Ontario's municipal and school board elections. Visit voterlookup.ca  to see if you are on the list.

Water Conservation Measures are in Effect
With the current hot weather conditions, water is in high demand throughout York Region. Please conserve water by keeping to the restrictions outlined in the Outdoor Water Use By-law.
Road Construction on Highway 7
York Region is making improvements to Highway 7. Construction is scheduled to take place on Highway 7 between Highway 50 and Highway 427 from June 18 until July 30, between 7:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.
Road Closure due to Highway 427 Construction
The Highway 427 Expansion is underway. Construction will result in the permanent closure of the intersection of Major Mackenzie Drive and Huntington Road on June 30. A new segment of Major Mackenzie Drive will be constructed to connect traffic through the area.
