2020-21 Annual Fund Kick-Off

The 2020-21 Annual Fund is now officially underway!

All families should have received our Annual Report in the mail last week.

Your participation in the Peabody Annual Fund provides essential operating support to Peabody. The generosity of our community supports almost everything that keeps Peabody running, from salaries and classroom technology to arts and supplies. This year, we are also faced with increased expenses for items such as technology infrastructure upgrades, outdoor learning spaces, additional cleaning supplies and protective equipment, and additional aid to Peabody students and families who felt the financial impact of COVID-19. We hope that you will support Peabody in this area and that you will keep in mind that your Annual Fund gift, of any size, really matters to the school.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of a gift to Peabody School for the 2020-21 year and for being such strong supporters of our wonderful school!
Art Gallery
Students researched, sketched, and created the final drawings of buildings to create an environment for their spectacular cityscapes. Lines were emphasized using black ink and color applied with watercolor paint. Individual elements were cut out and adhered to the background to create a collage. In the process some pieces have spacers adhered to the back, creating the illusion of space and to create a sense of depth. We are so impressed with the attention to detail and amount of thought that went into creating these works of art. Each piece is unique and takes you on a visual exploration. couple of paragraphs. Outdoor Education

For those of you whom I've not had the pleasure to meet or e-meet yet, my name is Geneva Mommsen and I am the new Outdoor Education teacher at Peabody this year. The Outdoor Education special class is on a rotating schedule with the Art and Physical Education classes this year. This means that if your child hasn't had this class yet, they will soon. Each student will have the Outdoor Education class for approximately 12 weeks of the school year, split across two blocks or rotations.

I am delighted to have joined the Peabody team and to be providing another opportunity for students to engage with nature and get outside during the school day. In order to increase access to outdoor learning, for times when students are not in the Outdoor Education rotation or for students and families looking for more ways to get outside and engage with nature, I have created a Wakelet Website. On the Peabody Outdoor Ed. Wakelet, you will find collections that feature websites, resources, and suggestions for different nature based learning. It is my hope that these resources are helpful to our Peabody students and their families. The collections include Animal Holidays, Hikes and Outdoor Adventures (near Charlottesville), craft and activity suggestions in Fun Stuff, and Leave No Trace Basics.

Please visit https://wakelet.com/@PeabodyOutdoorEd to view the collections of resources.

If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions for more resources to include on the Wakelet site, please do not hesitate to reach out!
