 UGPTI Represents at NTICC


SAVE THE DATE-Upcoming Training Opportunities
NDLTAP still has a few spots available for their upcoming BRIDGE 101 classes. This day-long course will educate attendees on key elements of bridges, including load limits, loading factors, failure modes, best practices and much more. We've been enjoying a record number of  attendance from tribal roads employees and look forward to future participation. If interested in attending, there are two dates available:
  • Bridge 101 - Grand Forks, ND - June 6
  • Bridge 101 - Williston, ND - June 13

TTAP training courses have been scheduled for our region and they include:
  • Planning & Procurement - Minot, ND - June 26-29
  • Maintenance & Operations - Mitchell, SD - July 17-20
  • Safety - North Sioux City, SD - July 31-August 3
We will release additional training opportunities throughout the next few months. 

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has scheduled the 21st Annual National Tribal Transportation Conference on September 24- 27, 2018 in Oklahoma City. Visit their website for additional details. 

Three Affiliated Tribes is hosting a beginner level course in New Town, ND August 16-17th.  Introduction to GPS Using ARCPAD is a a two-day course that combines lecture, hands-on field training and classroom exercises to teach the basic principles of GPS fieldwork.

BIA is hosting a beginner level Principles of GIS course. Standing Rock Sioux Tribe is hosting this 3-day session in Fort Yates, ND August 20-22. 
UGPTI's Wide Representation at Upcoming NTICC
The National Transportation in Indian Country (NTICC) event scheduled for September 17-20th, 2018 in Duluth, MN is shaping up to be an educational highlight of the year. Numerous UGPTI staff are confirmed to present at this conference. From tribal crash data, to a highlighted presentation covering 'pavement to gravel' and a tribal transit focus group, we are poised to offer a great variety of education and training opportunities.

The UGPTI's Tribal Outreach effort improves safe transportation of people and goods on tribal reservations to enhance livability, community and cultural values through increased accessibility to employment, workforce development opportunities, education, healthcare and housing.
 
Vision:
 
The Tribal Outreach effort will be a leader in facilitating improvements in tribal transportation to enhance livability, community and cultural values for reservation residents.
 
Currently, the effort offers outreach in:
  • funding opportunities
  • grant writing assistance
  • training (workforce development, youth, education, technology)
  • program/resource assistance
  • partnership/collaborative opportunities
  • outreach task force
  • monthly newsletter
