CCSD93 strives to maximize the academic, social & emotional potential of each student.

Dear Friend of CCSD93,
Messages From
Superintendent Hill:
|
Last night, I was pleased to share with middle school families the middle school return to in-person learning plan. It was formulated with staff input from each school’s Building Leadership Team and seeks to maximize the in-person learning experience while minimizing health and safety concerns. It is similar to the original plan from July, but includes key changes to:
- Eliminate lunch time, which public health guidance has continued to caution as a significant risk for transmission because students cannot wear masks while they eat and droplets known to carry COVID-19 have a much greater chance of spreading.
- Reduce the total amount of time students will wear a mask in a given day as they can remove the mask when they arrive home.
- Minimize the number of students in a given cohort.

Sixth graders will tentatively return Monday, November 9 and 7th and 8th graders will tentatively return on Monday, November 16. Middle school families, please be sure to review it in its entirety at www.ccsd93.com/msreturn and complete the Remote Learning vs. Hybrid In-Person Learning selection form at www.ccsd93.com/return by Tuesday, October 13. Please note, this plan does differ substantially from the current preschool and elementary school return plan.

Listen to Conversation w/Former CCSD93 Superintendent Dr. Hank Gmitro in Latest Talk D93 Podcast!
|
|
As CCSD93 continues to celebrate its 100th anniversary, I sat down with CCSD93’s third full-time Superintendent of Schools Dr. Hank Gmitro this week. I was honored to have the opportunity to discuss Dr. Gmitro’s tenure from 1996 to 2009 with him. It was a time when CCSD93 significantly expanded student programming, when the district began to embrace technology as a learning tool in its nascent stages, and when the district brought on process management and a stakeholder driven strategic plan to make the leap from a good school district to a great one. Listen to it by clicking the video here!

David Hill, Ed.D.

Parents Invited to Schedule Student-Led Conferences!
|
|
This year, Parent/Teacher Conferences across CCSD93 will continue to take the form of Student-Led Conferences, as students will once again participate in conferences with their parents and teachers.
New for this year:
- Conferences will be held about a month earlier than usual, on October 21 and 22, in order to help our students and families evaluate and make adjustments sooner into the school year than previously.
- The week of Conferences, students will attend class during the typical “Monday schedule” each day from Monday, October 19 through Thursday, October 22, and there will be no school Friday, October 23.
- Conferences will be held virtually.
- Conferences will take the form of a Student-Led Conference Circle. This format facilitates relationship building and allows each participant (student, parent and teacher) an equal voice, creating further opportunities to celebrate successes and collaboratively identify areas for growth.
Parents are once again asked to use PTC Wizard, an online scheduling tool, to set up conferences. You can schedule conferences with PTC Wizard until noon on Tuesday, October 20. If you created a PTC Wizard account for Meet the Teacher this year, you do not need to create a new one. To register and schedule your conferences, visit www.ccsd93.com/conferences. At the time of your scheduled conference, parents and students are asked to connect to their teacher’s recurring Zoom link, unless otherwise notified.
