2018 BC CHAMBER AGM
Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce is submitting a policy on Abandoned Vessels at the BC Chamber AGM

The BC Chamber policy development process provides local Chambers a valuable opportunity to know what's on the mind of their respective business community.  At the same time, the BC Chamber's bottom-up, grassroots process provides quality local insights to ensure provincial concerns have a vehicle to address them, which supports the likelihood of government acting on their recommendations. With this in mind, your Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce is submitting a policy on Abandoned Vessels at the BC Chamber AGM on May 24th to 26th.

The policy seeks to address jurisdictional gaps created by the federal governments new Bill C-64, an Act respecting wrecks, abandoned, dilapidated or hazardous vessels and salvage operations.  The full policy is available for review by here:  Abandoned Vessels Policy

If accepted at the AGM, the Abandoned Vessels policy statement will be submitted or presented to the provincial and federal governments by the BC Chamber of Commerce and will be called to the attention of the Cabinet ministers responsible in order to make it possible for pending government legislation and regulations to reflect the individual and collective opinion of BC Chamber members.
