Thanksgiving Is Around The Corner
Let's face it; the holidays are stressful no matter your situation. But for those living with food insecurity, the holidays can be especially taxing. There's nothing more American than sitting around a cozy table, sharing a meal, and watching the football game on television. For our food insecure population on Long Island, however, a hot meal is not a guarantee.
At Long Island Cares, we're trying to lighten the burden of the holiday by providing families with FREE turkeys, chickens, hams, and Thanksgiving fixings.

Host a Food Drive! The process is simple:
Find a location to host your drive, tell somebody, and have fun with your drive!
Register your Food Drive  with Long Island Cares.
 
You can also run a virtual food drive! Our friends at YouGiveGoods.com have made it 
very easy to help fill our Food Bank! This service is free to use, and allows for you to 
share your drive with even more people, giving your drive an extra boost!

Conclusion of the

Help battle hunger this summer by stopping by King Kullen on the following date. Supported by our local Assembly Members, the Summer Food Drive to End Hunger is an effort to get people out to their local King Kullen to donate non-perishable food items, and get active in the community.

Join Assemblyman Doug Smith on October 6th and 7th at the King Kullen in Patchogue (440 West Sunrise Highway) from 10am-6pm.

Suffolk County Harley-Davidson's Fall Festival


Come celebrate the all-new 2019 Harley-Davidson model launch and help make a difference for those in need! On Saturday, October 13th, Long Island Cares will be collecting non-perishable food items at the Suffolk County Harley-Davidson's Fall Festival in Oakdale between 11am-3pm. There will be a free BBQ, live music by Joe Rock and the All Stars, a candy bar, and more! We'll see you at 4020 Sunrise Highway in Oakdale.

World Infinity Corp  is hosting the third of many large food drives for Long Island Cares! Drop by the Stop & Shop of South Setauket (250 Pond Path) on Sunday, October 21st  at 7am-5pm to donate non-perishable food items and school supplies! They've raised nearly 10,000 pounds for us so far!

Once again, Long Island Cares, Inc., The Harry Chapin Food Bank in cooperation with supermarket chains on Long Island, is proud to participate in its  26th Annual Check-Out Hunger® campaign that will run from October-January. Our retail partners run the campaign at varying times over the four-month period, and shoppers can donate whenever they see the Check-Out Hunger® displays.

 
If you'd like to make a donation during this campaign, simply tear off a $1, $3, or $5 coupon and hand it to the cashier to add a donation onto your bill. 100% of the donations collected in Nassau and Suffolk counties will be donated to Long Island Cares to assist the 270,000 Long Islanders who struggle with food insecurity every day.

Central Operating Lines Ltd. 
Open House & Food Drive

Central Operating Lines, Ltd. is a model railroad club. The club has o ver 2 scale miles per line and 4 main lines, along with 2 elevated lines, 2 subway lines and 2 ON-30 lines! 

COL is hosting an open house! Stop by on October 20th and 21st. Check out their four main lines, two elevated lines going from city to city, a logging line covering their 34-inch mountain, and much, much more! Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza Fundraiser Has Been Extended Through The End Of October

Long Island Cares partnered with  Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza  in September to raise funds for Long Island Cares. That fundraiser has since been extended until the end of October. Mention Long Island Cares when you stop in at their Farmingdale, Stony Brook, Bohemia, Woodbury, Carle Place, Commack, Wantagh, or Great Neck locations (on Mondays and Tuesdays) and 20% of your order will be donated to fighting hunger on Long Island

Long Island Cares and their staff dietitians know that feeding people is not the same as nourishing them. For Our Annual East End Golf Outing at Sebonack Golf Club


Just South of the Great Peconic Bay lies the sprawling hills of the Sebonack Golf Club. Carved from the natural curve of the land, the course features expansive views that overlook the the Peconic Bay and Cold Spring Pond. 
The morning starts with registration and breakfast at 8:30am followed by a first tee at 10am. We will conclude the day with a cocktail reception.

CANstruction Is Back For Another Year of Creativity, Talent, & Fun
Canstruction is the most unique food charity event in the world!



For thousands on Long Island, the day begins and ends with the anguish of hunger. Canstruction Long Island is determined to end this suffering. At CANstruction, teams are given 12 hours to defy expectations, logic and gravity as they build fantastic sculptures from thousands of cans of food. 

Driven by the  knowledge that their structures will change lives by lifting the spirits of those in need, by raising public awareness, and most importantly, by filling the shelves of local food banks dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to bring their creations to life. 


The following day, the super-sized masterpieces are judged in a variety of categories as these unconventional art exhibits are opened to the public from October 26  through November 12 . The cost of admission: just one can of food.

On December 7, the hit country radio station NASH FM 94.7 will be celebrating "The NASH Holiday Bash" at NYCB Live, which is home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum Country star  Chris Young  will be headlining this concert in Uniondale, New York, and he will be joined by country duo  Dan and Shay , and Aussie country sensation  Morgan Evans .
