Palm Beach Approves 
$82.4 Million Budget
Palm Beach Town Hall
The Palm Beach Town Council gave the final nod Thursday to an $82.4 million spending plan for the year that begins Oct. 1. The proposed budget would be nearly 2.5 percent larger than this year's $80.5 million budget.
Town Designated Areas for Car Carriers to Load and Unload

Car carriers are allowed to load and off-load vehicles in 3 areas of Town. If carriers are found blocking lanes of traffic, they can receive a Code Enforcement Notice of Violation for violating the Right of Way, Ordinance No. 106-1.

The Landmarks Preservation Commission unanimously approved on Friday a plan to partially demolish and restore Duck's Nest, the historic lakefront home that harkens back to Palm Beach's pioneer days. "Everyone here is delighted to see the direction this property is moving in," Chairman Ted Cooney said.

The Investment Advisory Committee acts in an advisory capacity and shall make recommendations to the Town Council on matters relating to the Town's investment policy and the investment of the Town's surplus funds.

Port of Palm Beach Board Considers Deepening, Widening Inlet
The Port of Palm Beach is again considering a controversial project to deepen and widen the Lake Worth Inlet just south of Peanut Island to make it easier for commercial ships to enter and leave the port. In a discussion during a Port of Palm Beach Commission meeting Thursday, commissioners heard public comments and discussed the benefits and drawbacks of widening the inlet.

The 2018 Pardes Honorary Humanitarian Prize in Mental Health is being awarded to Bob Wright and the late Suzanne Wright, the founders of Autism Speaks, for their unparalleled leadership in advancing autism research and increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism spectrum disorder. The award was announced today by the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation and will be presented at a ceremony in New York City on October 26.
