Roxbury School Board Earns Master Board Certification
The Roxbury Township Board of Education was one of the three latest districts to be recognized for the Carole E. Larsen Master Board Certification (MBC). Boards of Education from Roxbury Public Schools, Denville Public Schools, and the Netcong School District were recognized Thursday, September 20th at the Morris County School Boards Association meeting in Mountain Lakes, NJ.
The Roxbury Board is now among the 29 Boards of Education that have achieved this level of recognition out of the 500+ districts in New Jersey since its inception in 2007. It is now held by a total of six School Boards in Morris County.
The Roxbury Board of Education took on this training goal as one of its Board Goals determined at the July 2017 Board Retreat. Their stated goal said that the Board of Education for 2017/2018 would work toward achieving this certification. Roxbury Gymnastics Updates:
Roxbury's New Gymnastics Team: Unofficially Undefeated
Roxbury High School's first gymnastics team is doing great, says its coach, Tara Liska. In fact, it's doing better than its official record of 2-1 shows, she said...
Liska said all the girls are doing well, but Tiffany Zieba has been the Gaels' lead scorer for all three meets so far. "We've also had two freshman, Alexis Merola and Morgan Valdes who are doing pretty well," the coach said. "They're freshman, but they're really stepping up and doing well in all four events."
The team won't compete again until Oct. 1, when it takes on Randolph. "It's nice to have a break now," said the coach, noting the team will use the downtime to prepare for the tough competition she expects it will find with Randolph.

New Roxbury team a part of gymnastics' rise in Morris County
Rachel Zlotnick likes to tumble in the hallways at Roxbury High School. A club gymnast as far back as she can remember, Zlotnick has flipped and somersaulted for her friends "which is really bad. I got into trouble for it."
The Gaels junior now has a safer place to show her skills. Roxbury added a varsity gymnastics team this fall.
The Gaels will visit Randolph on Monday for their lone local meet. They've competed in three meets so far this season, winning two and losing one "on a technicality" due to an error on a scoresheet.
Roxbury Football Updates:
Roxbury Football Honors 1978 Team with First Win of the Year
The Roxbury High School football team won its first game of the season Friday, beating Morris Hills 15-12 and breaking the Scarlet Knights' undefeated streak.
The Gaels victory came on a night the team honored its 1978 counterpart, a team that won the Iron Hills Conference co-championship. Ten players from the team, and their coach, reunited on the field before the game.
The contest marked the first time Roxbury faced Morris Hills since 1978. The Gaels next play on Saturday, Sept. 29 at Morristown High School.

Small but mighty Roxbury senior made big football plays in Week 3
When Brian Dachowski looked at what Roxbury coach Cosmo Lorusso had drawn up on his whiteboard, he thought, "It was a crazy play call, but we knew, with how the game was going, it would work."
The Gaels were down to a fourth down with about two minutes left against Morris Hills, and Lorusso had sketched out the kind of play Dachowski and quarterback Nick Danna had run in the backyard for years. Danna faked like he was throwing a short pass, and Dachowski made like he was going to block. Instead, he ran deep, and Danna found his friend steps short of the end zone.
