An update from the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley | Spring 2018
Young professionals give $5,200 in grants
The Young Philanthropist Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation, made $5,200 in grants following their February 1 grant deadline.

The fund was established in 2006 to introduce young leaders to philanthropy, and the G.I.V.E.S. Committee of the Mahoning Valley Young Professionals club directs grantmaking from the fund. This year, the committee selected four projects for funding, including the Butler Institute of American Art’s Summer Visual Arts Day Camp. Immersing campers in drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture, the all-inclusive camp accommodates children of all needs and offers scholarships to those who qualify.

The three other organizations selected by the Young Philanthropist Fund this year were Boys & Girls Club of Youngstown, Piggyback Foundation of Youngstown and Making Kids Count. Representatives from all four organizations and the MVYP club (pictured above) met in March for a check presentation.

Congratulations to this year's recipients of the Trumbull Memorial Health Foundation scholarships, listed below. Each student is pursuing a degree in a healthcare field, from pre-medicine and nursing to forensic psychology and music therapy.

Recipients were recognized at a June 15 breakfast, where DIane Sauer, chair of the TMH Foundation urged them to consider beginning their careers in the Valley after graduation.
