#LovetheLordYourGod

St. Matthew, Scarborough, Ontario embarked on 1+1+1 A Dollar for Missions initiative at the beginning of September. What a blessing to see believers, young and old, dropping their loonies, toonies and even five dollar bills into the box as they enter the sanctuary. St. Matthew folks are convinced that it truly is not burdensome but rather a privilege and tremendous opportunity to be a part of the lives being touched all around the world by the Lord and His saving Gospel. Thanks to our English District for the encouragement in this great work of serving our neighbors .

Hurricane Florence Relief

Hurricane Florence has brought destruction and damage across the Carolinas, but also hope and an outpouring of care. Lutheran Church Extension Fund has offered to match gifts from LCMS districts for relief for those affected by these storms. The English District has sent funds to LCEF for the matching funds.

If your congregation or school wants to send funds for the relief effort, donations can be given to the Southeastern District or LCMS Hurricane Relief.

In addition, Thrivent is also matching gifts at their Disaster Relief page.

LCEF Young Investor Club

The Lutheran Church Extension Fund's Young Investor Club is one of the most popular accounts at LCEF. Grandparents and parents are teaching young people the stewardship principle of saving. One grandparent wrote, " We started the account right after the birth of our first granddaughter. We add money to the account as gifts for her birthday and at Christmas and other special occasions.  Her other grandparents have also added to the account.  It has turned into a mini competition." Some congregations are opening accounts at the baptisms of the children of their congregation. Consider giving the perfect gift of a Young Investor Club account. For more information go to lcef.org or contact LCEF VP David Thiele at  [email protected] or 517-980-2857.
