TRAFFIC OPERATIONS

Total August operations were just shy of 2017's count. We will continue to monitor the operations count each month, which he lps us secure funding for future airport projects and improvements.
AIRPORT DRIVE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

The City of San Marcos Transportation Department began improvements to Airport Drive near Berry Aviation Thursday, September 20.  The work is scheduled to be completed within the first two weeks of October, weather depending.

Vehicles will still have full airport access and traffic will not be impacted. Please use caution when driving as workers may be present.

We are excited as these improvements are another step to making our airport better.  If you have any questions, please call the airport management office at (512) 216-6039.
TAXIWAY DELTA PERMANENTLY CLOSED

As you are aware, we temporarily closed Taxiway Delta in April/May of this year to determine how the closure would impact operations. The taxiway was flagged by the FAA as a "hot spot" due to being adjacent to two intersecting runways and the fact that it does not conform with current FAA airfield design standards.

In the interest of safety, Delta is permanently closed.

A NOTAM has been posted and lighted barricades are in place.

An updated configuration of the airfield will be top priority in the updated Airport Master Plan which should begin in a few weeks.

Please give us a call at (512) 216-6039 if you have any questions.
AIRPORT PROJECTS

  • Master Plan: The airport's Master Plan was last updated in 2001 and is being updated. The Master Plan looks at long-term airport use, anticipated projects, and funding needs over the next 5-10 years. The consultant has been selected and the scope of work has been finalized.  The contract is on the October 1 Council agenda for approval and work should begin by the middle of October.
  • Kilo Development Area (KDA) Hangar: The plans for the hangar have been approved by the City's permit department and TxDOT Aviation's grant department is preparing documents for bid.
