A Message from Head of School, Dan Quesnel

Dear Oakwood Community,

I hope this email finds you doing well  and looking forward to spring break next week. Please remember that Friday is a half day with the students being dismissed at the following times:
  • Pre-K - 1st Grade: 11:30am
  • 2nd and 3rd Grade: 11:45am
  • 4th-12th Grade: 12:00pm
On an unrelated note, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been getting a lot of attention in the press lately, and just yesterday North Carolina had its first confirmed case. The administration and I have been following the news and developing contingency plans of our own to operate the school, as our top priority is the health and safety of our community.  I am part of a group of Head of School Listserve among members of the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS), where we have been monitoring the spread of the virus and sharing resources and ideas with each other. I am also attending my second SAIS webinar regarding COVID-19 this afternoon. Oakwood will continue to monitor the news and take additional precautions in the event COVID-19, influenza, or any other widespread illness impacts our community. Of course, I encourage everyone to continue taking common sense steps to avoid catching any virus by washing hands frequently, covering mouths when sneezing or coughing, and staying home when sick.

I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable spring break.

Go Eagles!
Dan Quesnel
