Coronavirus Update 8
|
 |
Dear San Marino Unified Staff, Students, Families, and Community,
California, LA County and COVID-19 News Facts
-
-
California is working around the clock to keep our communities safe, healthy, and informed.
-
Most cases of COVID-19 exhibit mild or moderate symptoms, with those particularly vulnerable to developing more serious illness being the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.
-
As of today, six new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in LA County.
-
These cases are not a result of "community spread," meaning that LA County health officials are able to trace back to where these patients were exposed to COVID-19. Also, none of these cases were linked to the first COVID-19 reported back in January of this year.
-
During its press conference today, LA County advised that its declaration of a local emergency was done to enhance the County's ability to effectively manage a swift response.
San Marino Unified's Continued Commitment
-
We will continue to remain informed and keep our staff, families, and community informed.
-
We are continuing to work daily with our City of San Marino officials, LA County Office of Education, Department of Public Health, as well as other school districts and state and national agencies, as we all work as quickly and thoroughly as possible to support each other's efforts in establishing a clear plan of action should school closures become necessary.
-
We will continue to take any precautionary measure we are able to in doing our part to help keep COVID-19 at low risk of impacting our community.
What Our Staff, Students, and Families Can Do to Stay Healthy
-
Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
Thank you all so much for continuing to partner with us by engaging in panic-free preparations and precautionary actions as we continue to do all we can to prevent COVID-19 from impacting our San Marino community.
Sincerely,
San Marino Unified School District
