Bike to Work on Friday, May 18

West Park cyclists, join thousands of cyclists nationwide as they take to the streets and embrace the act of getting to work under their own power on National Bike to Work Day, Friday, May 18. Locally, Bike Cleveland is doing its best to make this day special in hopes that riders will be encouraged to leave their cars at home more often in the future. Our own 5 Points Coffee & Tea, 3600 West Park Road, is West Park's "hub" for the event. Conor Boylan at 5 Points will be offering free coffee and one baked item for all bicycle riders cycling to work and stopping by between the hours of 7 and 9 a.m. See the event page here

Light Northern Ohio Blue for Police Week

If you haven't already started, there is still time this week to join in lighting up Northern Ohio blue in support of Police Week. It started on Saturday, May 12 and runs through Sunday, May 20. Here are three easy ways to show your support during this campaign led by the Cleveland Division of Police, FBI Cleveland Division, FBI Citizens Academy Foundation of Cleveland, and the Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Society
  • Wear blue clothing: Whether at work, school, or with an organization. (Only in Clev, 17025 Lorain Avenue, offers t-shirts for this!)
  • Light up your home blue: Select local hardware stores will sell discounted blue bulbs to place outside your home to light it up blue.
  • Share pictures on social media: Sign up for the Facebook event on the Cleveland Police page and invite friends to participate, too! Use the hashtag when sharing photos -- #LightNorthernOHblue.

West Park WOW Begins Wednesday, May 23

West Park businesses are introducing a new program for the summer called "West Park Walk on Wednesdays" (West Park WOW). It kicks off at 6:30 p.m. on May 23, and then continues on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month throughout the summer.

The walks will start at one of several neighborhood businesses, travel to another, possibly a third, and then return to the first. Business owners at each stop will have a moment to introduce their businesses and offer a coupon, demonstration, or a taste to educate walkers about their products or services. On each walk, a professional will walk along, discussing their specialty and answering questions. On May 23, it will be Ralph Pfingsten of the West Park Historical Society. See the flyer with the schedule,
