Snowlion Rep is
Theater
Made in Maine

Our re: line above is actually a line from our world premiere play - did you know that there are cherry orchards in Maine?  Not many.  But the one Snowlion Rep will offer onstage, opening April 20th, is unique!

Based on Anton Chekhov's classic comedy The Cherry Orchard, our new adaptation entitled A Cherry Orchard in Maine... takes place in mid-coast Maine.  This is the show to see this spring - funny, quirky, moving and pertinent to today's issues.  Come see your home state as the setting for this classic tale!

Sincerely,

A Cherry Orchard in Maine...

An ancestral farm with a unique cherry orchard in mid-coast Maine is about to be auctioned off for tax debt, and the soon-to-be-displaced family and their friends are at loggerheads as to what to do - Develop the land? Abandon the property? Throw a party and forget about it? Twelve unforgettable characters come together to determine the fate of the cherry orchard, and in the process, find out where they fit - or don't fit - in the changing face of Maine.

   The Cherry Orchard
is a beloved Chekhov classic, and in this timely updating of the play, set in Knox County, issues of surprising contemporary relevance are given new life and focus, such as the effects of gentrification, the burgeoning homeless problem, shifting family dynamics, progressive politics, gender identification, and the clash between old and new money, old and new values, and old and new ways of living in a rapidly changing society.
Bonus:  It's a comedy!
