Summer energy use

Warm weather is upon us. That means you'll likely be decreasing your natural gas use while increasing your electricity use (especially if you have air conditioning).

Four times a year, we review fuel costs and pass changes--up or down--directly on to our customers. On May 1, natural gas prices increased while electricity costs decreased. The adjustments, approved by City Council, result in a $1.70 increase to the typical four-service residential monthly bill.

We have a variety of tools and tips that can help you manage your use throughout the summer. Check out our Summer Energy-Saving Tips and energy efficiency rebates that can give you a boost in your summer budget plan, leaving more in the bank for fun activities.
Summer water use

Though 2018 has been warm and dry, we do not anticipate mandatory water restrictions for the summer, thanks to several  recent years of wet, cooler weather and careful planning As always, we encourage you to use only what you need to maintain your landscape and quality of life.

It's common for summer water bills to be about twice as much  as winter bills, due to regular watering. Residential water is billed at tiered rates year-round, so when  you use less, you pay less. With careful management of your irrigation system and watering schedule, most customers can maintain healthy landscapes and stay within Tier I and Tier II rates.

Track your use with our My Usage tool at csu.org and get more helpful tips to manage your landscape at changethecurrent.com. While you're there, take our pledge to use water wisely!
