Employment Program offers Hands-On Job Exploration to Youth
Exposure to various employment fields is critical to helping youth decide what they want their future to look like. Over the last year, Easterseals Central Alabama's Employment Program has worked with some local area schools to share jobs in various employment fields to youth enrolled in VR services. Hands-on tours of a local job sites and interactive workshops give the students a chance to ask questions, hear job requirements, and see what a working day would be like in that field. We are proud of our employment programs, staff and community partners that make this all happen.

We are always looking for new businesses to partner with to offer tours to our students. If your business would be interested, please contact Ed Collier at 334.387.3271 or click here.
Occupational Therapy Program Expands to offer "Food School"
Easterseals' Pediatric Occupational Department has grown to now include a Food School for those children with feeding and weight/growth challenges.

Food School uses the SOS Approach to Feeding, developed by Dr. Kay Toomey, and is based on "normal" developmental steps, stages and skills of feeding. It uses motor, oral, behavioral/learning, medical, sensory, and nutritional factors and approaches.

We are happy to now be offering this program in the Montgomery Area!

40 Hours of Free Monthly Respite Care Offered to Air Force Families
Easterseals Central Alabama is happy to have partnered with Child Care Aware to offer monthly respite care to local Air Force families stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base, who have at least one special needs child.

Kathy King, the Coordinator of the program, says, "This program allows parents to have a worry-free date night, go shopping, go on vacation, or simply take a nap at home! Once the family has selected their trained provider from our program, they are free to negotiate their 40 hours however they would like!"
