Dementia Care Presentation at East Ridge at Cutler Bay
On Thursday, April 5th the Parks and Recreation Department coordinated a very informative presentation with the Department of Elder Affairs on Dementia Care which at East Ridge at Cutler Bay. A group of approximately thirty (30) participants attended this very informative presentation on many topics related to dementia. Mayor Peggy Bell was in attendance and also said a few words to the audience prior to the start of this presentation.
 
Town Hosts Third Annual "Wings Over the Bay" Event
The Third Annual "Wings Over the Bay" Chicken Wing Competition was another success. The event was held on Saturday, April 7th at Cutler Ridge Park with over 1000 residents and neighbors in attendance.
 
Town Residents Can Now Receive 25% Off Flood Insurance!
The Community Rating System (CRS) is a program administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). It provides lower insurance premiums under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The premium reduction is in the form of a CRS Class, similar to the classification used for fire insurance. A Class 1 provides a 45% premium reduction. A Class 10 provides no reduction. The CRS Class is based on the floodplain management activities a community implements. Some of these activities may already be implemented by the community, the state or a regional agency such as the South Florida Water Management District. The more activities implemented, the better the CRS class. 
 
Town Celebrates 3rd Annual "Earth and Arbor Day" Event
This year the Town continued its annual celebration of Earth Day with a ceremonial tree planting at Saga Lake Park on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Mayor Peggy Bell accompanied by Council Members Roger Coriat and Mary Ann Mixon presented the community with a Proclamation. The global theme of Earth Day 2018 is to "End Plastic Pollution."

Town's Youth Advisory Council Receives a Grant to Host Youth Health & Wellness Fair
The Town of Cutler Bay's Youth Advisory Council held a Youth Health and Wellness Fair on Friday, April 27 at Cutler Bay Senior High. This event was made possible in part by a $1,500 City Catalyst Grant from the Florida League of Mayors and Florida Business Watch. The City Catalyst Grants program supports projects or initiatives that help build community and/or enhance the lives of city residents. Grants can be awarded directly to the city or to a partner organization (i.e., little league or neighborhood association), but the application must come from a current member of the Florida League of Mayors.

Cutler Bay Mobile App
This user friendly mobile app gives residents access to the latest news and events happening in the Town. Residents can also use the app to report any issues or concern via their phone. Residents can download the app for free in the iTunes Store or Google Play by searching "Cutler Bay FL"


Crime Mapping
The Town and Miami-Dade Police Department utilize CrimeMapping to help law enforcement provide the public with valuable information about recent crime activity in their neighborhoods. Crime data is uploaded on a daily basis so that the information being viewed by residents is only a few days old. To view crime trends in your neighborhood, please visit www.crimemapping.com


Community on Patrol (COP) App
The Town and Miami-Dade Police Department offer the Community on Patrol (COP) App to allow the residents of Miami-Dade to be on patrol in their neighborhoods and report any suspicious activity to the Town's Policing Unit.  The COP App can be downloaded for free in the iTunes Store or Google Play by searching "Community on Patrol"

Nextdoor
Nextdoor is a website that makes it easy to communicate with your neighbors about the issues that matter most in your community. The website allows neighbors to share recommendations about local services, organize neighborhood events and connect with parents and other groups in the neighborhood. The Town's Policing Unit staff uploads neighborhood alters through Nextdoor. Nextdoor protects you, your information, and your neighborhood. Miami-Dade Transit Tracker
Miami-Dade County Transit, which updates the Town's Circulator Bus Service, encourages you to utilize the Miami-Dade Transit Tracker App to help track your ride and plan your trip. The program allows riders to attain real-time tracking of the Town's Municipal Circulator, Metrobus and Metrorail. The App also provides fare information, Miami-Dade Transit contacts, bus schedules, and connecting buses.
