Spring is around the corner and we are in organization mode as we prepare for the launch of a new registration system!  This new, more efficient online platform will streamline registration, volunteer coordination and donor management systems, and give our staff more time to focus on our students and programs!  We hope to launch the new system in time for summer term registration, in late April.  Thanks to our supporters who donated to this initiative at Éigse CIM, A Gaela Event!

Enjoy the St. Patrick's Day photos, and have a wonderful spring break!  Here's a reminder that the Center for Irish Music is closed from April 1-8.

Summer camps for children and teens

Exploring Irish Music
This camp is designed specifically for early music and movement development. Campers will be introduced to the wonderful world of Irish music and tradition through stories, song, dance and play. The week will be filled with activities that ignite imagination, foster creativity, and build skills for future musicians. With an opportunity to try real instruments, campers will showcase their new skills for parents at the end of the week. Ages 4-8.

Introduction to Irish Harp
Learn all about the harp, one of Ireland's oldest instruments! This camp is for new and current students with no prior harp experience. Students will learn to play tunes and accompany songs while learning about the history of the instrument. Music, games and other fun activities will provide an opportunity to learn basic technique as well and rhythm and ear-training skills valuable to any Irish musician!

Ensemble Summer Camp
For all CIM youth ensemble musicians, and other CIM students who would love to meet some other Irish music friends for the week! Join us for a week full of learning new tunes, playing together, sessions and instrument-specific instruction. Please bring a bag lunch and water as we will take a lunch break in Newell Park, weather permitting.

* Information on an Introduction to Irish Music summer camp for 11-14 year-olds with a focus on song, culture, history with Danielle Enblom is forthcoming! Check our website for updates.

The Irish Music and Dance Association is now accepting applications for their Educational Grants to help students of all ages pursue an interest in the traditional arts of Ireland.

Grants may be used for classes, fees, travel expenses, equipment purchases or other purpose which supports the applicant's learning.  Grant recipients then bring their new skills back to the community by performing at an IMDA event in the Twin Cities.

Since its start in 2006, the program has made grants to musicians, dancers, students of the Gaelic language, several of whom have been CIM students.

More information is available here. Applications are due April 16th.
