ATIXA Tip of the Week

How do we address a situation where the victim objects during a sexual situation and the offender complies?

Tip of the Week authored by Brett A. Sokolow, Esq., ATIXA Executive Director

There are two versions of this.  In one, the objection occurs prior to sexual contact. If the aggressor complies with that objection, he or she is not an offender.  They are doing exactly what we want, which is stopping when they get a "no."  But, they also need to know that we expect them to get a "yes", not just forge ahead until they meet resistance.  What is the the difference between a pure consent approach and a resistance-based approach? Template Language Available from ATIXA

Complying with the Campus SaVE Act

By now, many of you have taken a look at the VAWA Reauthorization section known as the Campus SaVE Act. This act is now law, with enforcement expected to kick in a year from now. This amendment changes the Clery Act in ways much more substantive than previous amendments.

We have a shortcut to SaVE you time. We have created template language to satisfy all of the new SaVE Act disclosure requirements (at least as best we can decipher them before regulations are issued). It's eight pages of model language containing policy and procedure information outlined by Title IX and Campus SaVE. This template is available from The NCHERM Group for $249. To purchase our SaVE disclosure template, visit our online store or contact Alisha DiGiandomenico at (610) 644-3387. Please note that our template only includes the new ASR required disclosures, not all updates that were made by SaVE, such as those involving hate crimes statistics and hate crime categories.

Contact Marianne Price, Director of Educational Programs, for the ATIXA member discount code.
