5th Sunday After Pentecost

Sermon: Julie Chatfield,   Children's Ministry Director
Shipwrecked: "When We're Powerless"

Scripture:
Acts 3:1-26 (CEB)

I am excited to be sharing the message Sunday, especially as we embark upon the best week of the year.  In my book, the best week is that of Vacation Bible School.  This year our VBS is June 25th-29th from 6:30  -8:45 p.m.  I have worked or volunteered for VBS for 16 years.  I'm sure some of you have even more under your belt.  If so, you may agree VBS week is a lot of fun.  I have seen kids walking the halls as participants and then grow into amazing volunteers, which is a great feeling and something I encourage.   There is still time to volunteer.  We have a brief training session on Sunday 6/24 following the 11:00 service with decorating to follow.  Even if the only time you can spare is Sunday afternoon, we could use your help getting the church ready for the kiddos.

For the past 3 weeks in worship we have heard the stories that support this years VBS Bible Point, Jesus Rescues.  This week we continue with the story of Peter and John healing the crippled man and how Jesus rescues when we feel powerless.  I have permission from our daughter Savannah to share with you about her Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and how at times her anxiety has caused us to feel powerless.  We all have stories about when we feel powerless, when we feel lost, struggle or worry.  Even kids deal with these life issues too.  That's why VBS is so important.  It helps them learn about God's love no matter what they are doing.  Jesus Rescues is an important message for everyone.  I hope to see you Sunday as we wrap up this series and kick off the best week of the year.

See you Sunday!
Julie
