ACHIEVEMENT
NSU marked three major milestones in the last two months!
- NSU leaped 16 spots to land on U.S. News & World Report's Top 200 list of national universities.
- NSU announced an unprecedented $50 million gift by the Patel Family Foundation to name two colleges: Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine and Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences.
- NSU’s College of Allopathic Medicine (M.D. College) recently received “Preliminary Accreditation” from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. NSU is now allowed to accept an inaugural class of 50 students into its innovative Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) program, which will matriculate in August 2018.
More than 240 donors contributed to the NSU Cares Fund to help students, alumni and employees who are in need of assistance following Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. NSU has made five mission trips with support from Dr. Patel. Use of his plane and connections allowed NSU to deliver over 10,000 lbs. of food, supplies, and satellite phones, as well as key personnel. Once onsite, NSU staff were able to expedite repairs and technology networks to get the university’s Puerto Rico campus back on line.
In October, more than 244 donors supported
NSU cancer research initiatives
, including
pediatric cancer
. The first fund to support scholarships for our brand new M.D. students was established. Donors also endowed a Head Coaching Position in Speech and Debate at NSU University School and a Women’s Success Series at Huizenga College; provided audiology supplies for a mission trip to Nicaragua; created new Changing Lives Scholarships; and more.
In Advancement and Community Relations, we are focused on growing support and appreciation for the university through alumni relations, community relations, donor relations, development, and special events organized on behalf of NSU President Dr. George Hanbury. It is our charge, privilege, and pleasure to do everything in our power to help Dr. Hanbury and NSU’s Board of Trustees advance NSU from where it is, to what it wants to be for generations to come.
We are powered in large part by philanthropists like you!
Sincerely,
Jennifer
Vice President for Advancement and Community Relations
