Dear Friends,
After twelve days exploring olive groves, vineyards, rocky coasts, farms, and mountain villages on Corfu, we safely returned to New England — just in time for a splendid celebration of Pentecost, the church’s birthday. Thanks to the choir for an energetic, Spirited anthem, to the deacons for bringing the sound of rushing wind and images of flames dancing above our heads, and to each of you who wore red to mark the occasion.
It was an adventure to learn to speak a few words in Greek, and to rely on smartphone translators to translate supermarket labels. All the more reason to appreciate the line from the Acts of the Apostles reading on Sunday: “... in our own languages we hear them speaking about God’s deeds of power.” What a thrill, after finding ways to communicate through a foreign tongue, to return to your own and hear something wonderful! The Pentecost message is timely and urgent: that a great multiplicity and diversity of tongues and nationalities and beliefs all exist within the universal embrace of God’s wonder.
Speaking of God’s wonder, don’t miss this Sunday’s worship, when staff of the Silver Lake Conference Center will help lead our service and we will pray God’s blessing on their ministry.
Christlove,
Pastor John

Effective immediately, we are implementing a new security measure for the church staff: If any of the staff is in the building alone, then the Library Street door will remain locked.
If you stop by the church during office hours and the door is locked, please press the button to the left of the door to call the office. The staff person will then come down and open the door for you!

June Deacon’s Message
By Bob Maxwell
June is a month marked by recognition. There’s graduation ceremonies in recognition of achievement. Flowers bloom in recognition of the glory of the Earth. Father’s Day is a time set aside to recognize fathers. Related to that, it’s also a time to recognize Father figures in our culture such as Thomas Berry, considered by some as the Father of the environmental movement...
