Volunteer for Roadside Clean Up
Help keep the roadside beautiful between the Nursing Home and the Causeway!
Woody Osborne is again organizing this effort and asks anyone interested in helping out to meet in the church parking lot
tomorrow/Saturday June 23rd at 10am. Bring work gloves and wear sturdy/waterproof footwear. Orange trash bags are in the hall entryway for volunteers to use.

Women's Wilderness Trip: September 4-7, 2018
After ten unforgettable years at Katahdin Lake our annual women's outing was forced by the closing of Baxter's last private campground to find a new spot. After months of investigating many possible sites and visiting the most promising, the planning team has unexpectedly found a gem right under our noses.
To our delight Bishopswood, the Diocese of Maine's own summer camp, offers the essentials of what we have loved about our time apart in the Maine woods: a beautiful natural location, a rustic, environmentally respectful facility and privacy for our group with canoeing, kayaking and hiking at our doorstep and good meals provided.
While this is a departure from the treasured remote wilderness of Katahdin that those who experienced it will never forget, we believe Bishopswood offers the key requirement for us: a place and time for spiritual connection to the creation and each other at a different level than our everyday island life provides.
Bishopswood is about an hour and a half drive from Deer Isle. The facility was built as a girls' sports camp in the 1930s and retains the flavor of that genre and time. The cabins are communal; many now have indoor plumbing -even hot and cold water! Additionally there are two shower houses with several toilets each. The handsome lodge houses the dining hall and separate attractive gathering area with piano and open fireplace.
Laura Gertner, part-time summer cook at the camp and year-round baker of delectable items sampled at the Lincolnville General Store, has agreed to cater our meals.
Here are the details:
- Reservations accepted beginning June 23.
- $100 deposit by July 15 (refundable until Aug. 1) will secure your place. Balance due Aug. 15.
- Make checks to Patricia Donohue with notation for Women's Retreat, and mail to Patricia Donohue, 53 Plumb Point Rd., Deer Isle, ME 04627
- Participants bring own bedding, towel, outdoor folding chair.

Fifth Sunday after Pentecost:
Our theme today is Jesus' Lordship over the natural world and over the forces of evil in the universe. Jesus commands a storm to cease. The result of this event was amazement and wonder. Mark withholds the answer to their wonderment until the end of his Gospel when Jesus' death and resurrection reveal him as the Son of God, hence the Lord of the universe.
In the Old Testament reading from the Book of Job, God responds to Job's questioning by asking how Job dare think himself competent as a creature to question the Creator. This magnificent poem occurs in today's liturgy as an Old Testament witness to God's power over the universe which was revealed in Jesus' ministry and power.
We continue to read through 2 Corinthians. The Corinthian church has been resisting Paul's leadership. He warns them to take seriously the grace of God which they have received and to emulate Paul's ministry, seeking not worldly greatness, but the greatness of those who are being saved now.
In Eucharist, the People of God find themselves joined together in Christ as the new Creation. For a brief time in prayer and Sacrament, we are revealed as his Body and as the instruments of his redeeming love in the world. That revelation is to continue in our ministry of love and reconciliation toward all people

We pray for the victims of the violence of armed conflicts around the world. We pray for those made refugees by the violence of armed conflicts. We pray for the victims of terrorist attacks everywhere.
We pray for all who suffer the effects of domestic violence and the violence
of bullying in our schools.
We pray for all peacemakers, and all those who work for justice.
We pray for all those serving in the armed forces of our country, remembering, especially, Craig, Chris, Graham, and Caleb.
We pray for all who govern, and we pray for the concerns of our local community, remembering, especially, our children, our young people, and our isolated elderly.
We pray for Justin, Archbishop of Canterbury; Suheil, Bishop of Jerusalem; Michael, our Presiding Bishop; Steve, our Bishop; for the members of our vestry; and for all our members, whose ministries are varied and far-reaching.
In the Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, we pray for
the congregations of St. Giles', Jefferson St. John Baptist, Thomaston For those who suffer persecution, oppression and denial of human rights.
In the Anglican
