Update Yahrzeit Information in Shul Cloud
|
If you have suffered the loss of a family member and wish to be notified of the Yahrzeit please log into ShulCloud with your username and password. Once you are in your account click on the Yahrzeit Tab, 3rd tab
from the left on the top. Click Add Yahrzeit. This will take you to Create New Yahrzeit. The fields are self-explanatory. For accuracy of the notification, it is important to know if the deceased died before or after sundown. You will then receive a ShulCloud generated notice by email or hard copy if no email address is on file from the Synagogue prior to the date that the Yahrzeit will be observed.
If you are unable to log in or need help to input the information into the system please contact Marsha Lustig who will be happy to help you.

Tween Minyan and 6th Grade Minyan End of Year Kiddush & Thank You to Didi
|
This Shabbat will be our final Tween & 6th Grade Minyan for this school year. Our 3rd-6th graders have had the opportunity to engage in tefillot with joyful singing and have learned valuable Parsha lessons throughout the year. To celebrate our amazing Tween and 6th grade Minyanaires, we will have a special hot kiddush for them at the conclusion of Tween Minyan in the Youth Lounge.
Additionally, we would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Didi Levy for all his dedication and contributions to the Tween Minyan, 6th Grade Minyan and the whole youth department this past year. It has been an amazing year.
Todah Rabah, Didi!!

YIS Yizkor Reader 5779 New Printing
|
The text of the Yizkor prayer that we say for our departed loved ones on each Holiday contains the phrase:"May he/she be remembered in the merit of the Tzedaka that I give in his/her honor."
This pledge of Tzedaka is consistent with the time honored tradition of contributing to one's shul and community L'Aliyat Neshama, serving as an elevation of the soul of the deceased. In fact, according to the Midrash, the Rabbis instituted Yizkor as part of our Holiday Tefillot with this very purpose in mind, donating money to the shul on each Holiday as an eternal spiritual legacy for our departed family members.
In many communities, a Yizkor book is reprinted each year with the requisite annual donations. At the Young Israel of Scarsdale, we have chosen to reprint every 3 years and will be reprinting the YIS Yizkor Reader this year prior to the High Holidays.
Please note the following important details regarding the reprinting of the Yizkor Reader.
Deadline for response is July 15, 2018:
For Existing Listed Names (please click on the link to review the
most recent printed version of the Yizkor Reader
):
All listed names included in the most recent printed version will be automatically included in the reprinted version and you will be billed accordingly for this year's reprinting at $36 per name or $360 for 10 - 18 names.
If you would like your listed names removed from the reprinting of the Yizkor Reader, you need send an email that you would like to OPT OUT to Sharon in the shul office at sharon@yisny.org.
If you have any changes or corrections to the listed names in the most recent printed version, please click on the link for the Yizkor Reader form
For New Names:
Families may inscribe an English and Hebrew name into the Reader for $36.00 per individual name or $360.00 for 10 -18 names. Please click on the link for the Yizkor Reader form.
Zochrim Sponsorships
For those who would like to contribute as "Zochrim - Those Who Remember", in addition to your names listed, or even if you are not inscribing a loved one's name, any contribution is welcomed. Please click on the link for the Yizkor Reader form.
Suggested contributions: $180.00, $360.00, $540.00 (multiples of Chai)
**Please know that no one should feel discouraged from participating in this Yizkor Reader for financial reasons. If this is the case, please contact us and we will work with you to find an appropriate accommodation for you and your family. Please contact David Wachtenheim directly at depdw@msn.com.
