Volunteers needed!
GET INVOLVED in your campus community! We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to welcome new students to DVC.
 
Our annual  Welcome Day  events will be held at the Pleasant Hill Campus on  Saturday, August 17  and at both the Pleasant Hill and San Ramon campuses on  Saturday, August 24. Come help new students explore campus, attend informative workshops, and prepare for a successful first term. If you would like to be a part of this welcoming and fun event at either campus, please complete the  Welcome Day Volunteer Form. Welcome Week  –  August 26 and August 29  at the Pleasant Hill Campus. Make the first week of school less stressful during the August “back-to-school” rush by helping fellow students locate classrooms and student services, assisting with Insite, and making the transition into the new term easier for everyone.  If you are interested in helping with our “back-to-school” rush at the Pleasant Hill Campus, please complete the  Welcome Services Volunteer Form.

Counseling announcements

Summer appointments are now available for current college students enrolled in summer classes, continuing students, and transfer students. You can drop by the DVC Counseling Center , call 925-969-2140 or 925-685-1230, or online at to make an appointment. This is a great time to update your education plan and prepare for the next academic year. 

New students are encouraged to take Counseling 95 – Educational Planning for New Students. This class will prepare you for your first term at Diablo Valley College, help you understand your options, connect you with a counselor, and help you plan classes to take during your first term. Learn more

Drop-ins for quick questions are also available for students over the summer. Students who plan to come for a drop-in session in the afternoon should call the counseling office to see how long the wait time is before coming to the college.

Book Center hours
The DVC Book Center will be open Monday - Friday from 7:45am - 4pm ( May 28 - June 13 ) and 7:45am-6pm ( June 17 - August 15 ).

End of summer book buyback
The end of summer book buyback will be on July 24 and 25 from 9am-6pm.

Book Center closed on June 27
The DVC Book Center will be closed on Thursday, June 27 for inventory. Inventory starts at 8:00 am and the store will reopen once completed. Please purchase needed items before June 27 .

Transfer announcements

See the new ASSIST.ORG for transfer requirements
ASSIST.org , your UC and CSU transfer resource, is now updated! Find out how courses you have taken transfer to a CSU or UC. Meet with a DVC counselor to make an educational plan and find out which courses transfer, or drop by Career and Transfer Services during our open summer session hours for help. Summer session hours are Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, 10am-1pm, June 17 - July 23. Learn more about ASSIST.ORG.

Join Umoja for 2019-20
Are you looking to connect with other students and build a community of support while at DVC? We are currently taking applications to join DVC Umoja for 2019-20. Umoja (a Kiswahili word meaning unity) is a statewide community of educators and learners committed to the academic success, personal growth and self-actualization of African American and other students. Students who join the Umoja learning community are required to take two linked classes each term and participate in other program activities. It's an amazing experience! DVC Food Pantry summer hours
The DVC Food Pantry is open this summer (until July 25) from Monday - Thursday, 11am-5pm. The Food Pantry is located in the Student Union Building, first floor in the Multicultural Center.

Smoke Free DVC
Diablo Valley College is now a Tobacco-Free Institution
DVC is committed to promoting the good health of our students, staff and broader community by providing a healthy environment in which to learn and work. Given the negative health impacts of tobacco and similar product use, the Governing Board has established policy (GBP #2045) designating DVC as a tobacco-free institution. Therefore: 
Smoking, smoking substitutes, smoke inducing devices and vaping are considered a health hazard and are prohibited on all college property. This includes, but is not limited to, products containing tobacco or nicotine, e-cigarettes, cigars, clove cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, snuff, chew packets, hookah smoking, personal vaporizers/electronic smoking devices, marijuana and controlled substances regulated under federal law. 

This policy shall apply to all students, employees, volunteers, vendors, consultants, agents, contractors, and visitors on Diablo Valley College property as defined above. Consistent with Government Code 7597.1, the Governing Board has imposed fines and set enforcement standards for DVC in order to ensure a tobacco-free environment.

Marijuana policy at DVC
Recreational marijuana is legal in California, but it is still prohibited on all Contra Costa Community College District property, colleges and campuses.
Policy on skateboarding, skating, and bicycling on campus
In accordance with V.C. 21113(f), the use of bicycles, motorized bicycles, electric bicycles, skateboards, electrically motorized boards, and roller skates on the DVC campus is strictly prohibited.
