NES Art Show

The 2018 NES Art Show is being held the evening of May 17th from 5-7pm in the NES Cafeteria . A s the theme of this year’s art show is printmaking, each grade level k-4 will be using a unique method of printing.  Printmaking is the process of making artworks by printing. Printmaking normally covers only the process of creating prints that have an element of originality, rather than just being a photographic reproduction of a painting. Except in the case of monotyping, the process is capable of producing multiples of a same piece, which is called a print. Common materials for printmaking may include a brayer, ink, printing  paper, and a matrix which varies depending on the method of printing.

T HE ARTWORK WILL BE PROFESSIONALLY MATTED AND FRAMED AND FOR SALE AS AN ART DEPARTMENT FUNDRAISER . CHECKS OR CASH ONLY (NO CREDIT CARDS) WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Field Day News
Field Day is coming up on Friday, June 8th!

GRADE 4 STUDENTS-YOU NEED A WHITE T-SHIRT FOR A SPECIAL GRADE 4 ACTIVITY!

This is a fun filled day of indoor and outdoor activities, as well as a cookout lunch outside!

Parents may contact their child's classroom teacher if you would like to volunteer with the classroom.

A current background check needs to be on file with the office. Please check with Main Office to see when yours expires-you must renew every year!
Mrs. Pezza and Mrs. Morrissey’s classes have been taking part in a new and exciting program called Bal-A-Vis-X (Balance, Auditory,Vision,Exercise) as part of their P.E. experience this year.

Bal-A-Vis-X is a series of some 300 exercises, most of which are done with sand-filled bags and/or racquetballs. The ball exercises often require multiple mid-line crossings to a pronounced auditory rhythm.
This carefully modulated system of exercises can become increasingly complex or increasingly simplified/modified. Here at NES, the program focuses on cooperation, eye hand coordination and balance.
Each class did an outstanding job, and I look forward to picking up where we left off next year. Have a great summer!

NES FLAG DAY PARADE

When : June 14th
Flag Day Parade- We are starting to plan for the NES Flag Day parade on June 14th. For this event, Mrs. Dandurand buys each student a red/ white/blue item to have while students march in the parade. The 4th grade teachers organize the parade with the Narragansett Police Dept to close off the road. We march up the hill and back to our school for an assembly. Our family and friends line the street to cheer us on as we march by. At this assembly, we learn about the history of the  flag, sing patriotic songs, and honor local veterans.
