President's Message
Hello Everyone,

What a wonderful start to an exciting new year. Carol and I want to thank everyone who turned out for the South Lake Bastrop Rally. Even though the weather didn’t co-operate the 30 rigs that showed up had a great time as did we.

We are super excited to start our first “Rollin’ to The BIG EASY” caravan which should be full of great food, wonderful sights, sounds and experiences. Carol and I arrived two days early at Lake Livingston and were greeted with one of the most beautiful sites in the park. We can’t imagine a better way to explore Louisiana then experiencing it with 48 friends.
We are also looking forward to the back to back Vintage & Regional Rally’s. Our club is sponsoring the Vintage Rally so I hope we will see many of you there. If you haven’t already signed up, we still have room and it’s never too late. We will also be holding our spring business meeting at the vintage rally, so you don’t want to miss that. As for Regional, it’s only held once a year and your support is always welcome.

I want to leave you with one last thought, our next club rally will be a “Weekend Rally” at Brazos Bend State Park May 31 st – June 2 nd. I’ve reserved 25 of their base sites for our group. Our goal is to provide more opportunity for members who work and/or members with kids. But just because the Rally will officially start Friday afternoon doesn’t mean you can’t arrive earlier. I would like to fill all 25 sites and possibly more. Final Brazos Bend details will be sent out shortly.

Until then, safe travels,

Peter & Carol

It Was Cold!

The turnout for this rally was tremendous, considering the weather changed from sunny and warm on Thursdays to drizzly, cloudy and cold for the rest of the rally.

Thanks goodness the ziplining company cancelled their tours due to high winds and cold temperatures. Many members enjoyed movies and popcorn in the afternoons in the warm dining hall.

We loaded their cart with all it could carry. Most of the load was heavy bags of pet feed. The facility is totally dependent on donations and they were very thankful for our help.

My 2014 Interstate has somehow ($$$) changed into a 2018 Interstate GT. I have been busy getting it ready for the upcoming Rollin' to THE BIG EASY caravan. ~John Irwin
John and Sherry Parten are doing some major inside remodeling to their home in Giddings.
We are very excited that construction on our new home at NTAC has started. We hope to be completed in 5 mths. We are looking forward to entertaining our airstream friends.
~Steve and Ginger

Lynn & Ann Perrin have a new 2019 Classic, 33' called Casa Azul (Blue's House). Blue is their dachshund.
We picked up our new 2019 Airstream Classic 30' Rear Twins on February 15 at Camper Clinic II. Our first two night trip in it was to A&M for a Foundation meeting. Our next trip will be its maiden caravan voyage with the THLAC The Big Easy Caravan on March 21.
We had our old Airstrem about 12 years and had over 360,000 miles on it. We are looking forward to many more with the new rig.
Harvey, Gail, & Jack & Jill, too!
We had our Michigan friends come visit us at the Valley in late February. It was their first visit so we did not run out things to do,
Prayer Concerns

Our thoughts and prayers are with these folks who are grieving, under the weather, undergoing treatments, surgeries or are on the mend .

  • Barbara Burger: Dale passed away on February 16.
  • Larry Heinold's mother, Lela, passed away on January 31. The same day he fell off a roof and broke his femur. See Note from Larry on 2/16/2019
  • Willard Fischer and wife, Linda, could use our prayers. He is battling cancer and has had some really rough patches. They are both worn out due to lack of good sleep. They are still THLAC members, but have sold their Airstream and moved to NTAC last year.
  • Wayne & Janice Prentice joined our club in August 2018. Due to continuing health issues, they have decided to put RVing off for while. Their trailer and truck are sale. See email from Wayne
  • Mike Lovell. I received this email from Mike. He wanted to let his friends in the club know about his health. He wanted to get through the surgery before sharing. Keep Mike and Colin in your prayers.

Debbie, I was diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus on Nov 14th. I went to MD Anderson for a week in December for testing. They came up with a plan. On Jan 9th I had a procedure to remove the top layer of the lining of my esophagus. There were some nodes that went deeper so they removed 2/3 of my esophagus on Feb 12th. They detached my stomach and turned it upside down to form a new esophagus. I spent 16 days in MD Anderson. I am home now and on a feeding tube. Hopefully it will be removed in a few weeks. They feel that they got it all and I will not need any treatments.
Thanks, Mike Lovell

Name Your Airstream
~John Irwin
I don't think most of our members know this exists and it is free, free, free!.

Go to  Airstream.com . Click on "Owners." Click on "Name your Airstream." Click on "Register." Fill in the blanks with your Airstream name, the history/reason for the name, and the serial number of your rig. Wait a few weeks and you will receive a very nice certificate and an engraved medallion. The medallion is about 2 1/2" in diameter and very nice. I mounted mine inside the sliding door of my Interstate.

I have attached a photo of my medallion. It takes a few weeks to go through. I think they just process these when things are slow.
