Studio Session
Print a Business Card
with Bruce Campbell

TWO Wednesdays, October 16 and 23
     5:30 - 7pm
$30 members   $40 non-members
$5  materials fee

Limited to 6 participants

Learn to set type, manage a chase, ink the printer plate, and print your business cards on one of the Guild's Kelsey presses. The goal is for everyone to design and print their own cards while becoming familiar with the Guild's letterpress shop.  This beginners session is open to just six participants, as space in the shop is limited. Additional sessions may be offered based on demand.

Please note this class requires contact with lead type. Appropriate precautionary measures are required.

WORKSHOP
Found Paper Journals
with Corlis Taylor
 
Saturday, October 5    10am - 4pm
$60 members $70 non-members
$20 materials fee
4 SPACES  available 
 
Create an everyday journal using specialty folders and unique and interesting papers. We will design our covers, make the folios using a variety of papers, sew it all together and embellish with beads.

The instructor will provide the book covers, selection of papers, linen thread and beads. In addition to the paper provided please bring any paper you would like to include in your everyday journal.

Come by the studio and work on one of your ongoing projects, share ideas, and be inspired by fellow book artists. Or, just drop in to say hi! We hope to have more Open Studio times when we can gather informally without a special theme or focus. Let us know how Open Studio sessions like this can best serve our membership.

The Guild is honored once again to be invited to participate in Morris Thompson's wonderfully successful Holiday Bazaar. NBG members are encouraged to begin thinking about and creating Alaska-themed holiday gifts to be sold at the NBG table. Showcase your work at this very special holiday venue.

Included in the exhibition will be books of special interest to NBG members, including the magnificently illustrated Flora Rossica (1784/1789), a gem of a little atlas of the Russian Empire (1792/1793), and other rare books from the collection.
