White lines, yellow lines, dotted lines, double lines... We all know the rules of the road and while the freedom of the open road can be liberating, if we're not aware of healthy limits, the road can be a little too free and open. This Sunday, Mt. Horeb's kicking off Rumble Strips, our new series exploring what God intended for us with boundaries, responsibilities and practices to maintain healthy relationships with our Creator, our neighbors and ourselves. Join us for week 1 as we focus on what the Bible says about taking the wheel and owning our responsibility to set healthy boundaries.

Pastor Trevor will be speaking in the Sanctuary for the Traditional Worship services; Pastor Nick will be speaking in the Auditorium for the Contemporary Worship services. We're excited to start this new series with you on Sunday!

Pastor's Study

In this four week study, we will look at some of the major themes in one of the most fascinating books in the entire bible: Ecclesiastes. This unflinchingly honest book invites us to see the world the way it truly is and to find strength in the midst of it all. We will meet in the Student Room on Wednesday nights from 6:15-7:30, beginning July 11th. Contact [email protected].

Connect Class

The Sunday morning Connect class has moved from the Chapel to room 222. This Sunday morning class meets during the 10:45 service and is a great place to...well, get connected. The sermon isn't meant to be the last word on something but the first word in a conversation that hopefully carries on throughout the week. Each week we discuss the previous week's sermon, paying special attention to how it ought to practically show up in our lives. If you have any questions about this class email us at [email protected] .

Worship Workshops

August 6-8th from 9 to 12:30, the Contemporary Worship Team is hosting Worship Workshops for students (grades 6-12) interested in learning more about worship music and live production. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about an area of worship or production and develop their skills. If you are a beginner, this is also an opportunity to be exposed to how worship and production are used in church services. There are many tracks that you can choose from: Drums, Bass, Keys, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Vocals, and Production. The deadline to sign up is July 31st and the cost is $30 with lunch included. Register here.

Sisterhood

On August 24th from 6:30 to 8:30, we will have an exciting Sisterhood event with special guest speaker, Sharon Hodde Miller. Sharon is an author, speaker, PhD, pastor's wife, and mom of three. In addition to writing for sites like Christianity Today, She Reads Truth, and Propel, she recently published her first book Free of Me: Why Life is Better When It's Not About You. We pray you will come and bring your friends. Register here.

To find out more about Sharon, you can visit her blog at SheWorships.com, or follow her on Instagram at @sharonhmiller.

Fairways of Faith Tournament

On August 6th, a golf tournament will be held to support the Backpack Ministry that helps feed under-resourced children in the Lexington One School District. This tournament will be a four person captain's choice and play will begin at 10 AM. The entry fee is $300 per team or $72 per person with all proceeds going to the Backpack Ministry. The deadline to register is July 27th. If you would like more information or would like to register please contact Ken Lucas at (803) 260-6374 or [email protected]

Poverty Simulations

As part of our Circles USA ministry, we will have 2 opportunities for you to experience poverty simulations. Just like the ones Mt. Horeb previously hosted in the Fall, these approximately two hour poverty simulations are designed to allow people to experience the multitude of different, challenging situations a typical low-income family might face trying to survive from month to month.
The two poverty simulations will be 4-6 PM July 29th  (register) and 6-8 PM July 31st  (register) .
