What an AMAZING week at YGS!!! The Kelly DiPucchio and Aaron Blabey author visits captured our students' attention and hopefully inspired all students to follow their dreams and persevere during times of trial. It was great to see the school filled with families on Thursday evening. I know I enjoyed seeing the art work our talented young artists created. I would like to thank the families who supported our book fair, as well. Knowing families still take time to read with each other fills my heart with happiness. On Saturday evening, the YGS PTO hosted the Daddy Daughter Dance. This event was a magical evening for our dads and daughters and raised over $20,000 to benefit the students at YGS. I would like to especially recognize Allie Miner, the YGS PTO's Vice President and Chairman of the Daddy Daughter Dance. Without her leadership, this event would not take shape. Numerous volunteers also supported the planning of the event and at the event itself. Each individual who volunteered played a significant role in the success of the dance. I am very thankful for all who volunteered to make this event a huge success! I tried to take the evening in on Saturday night as with my move back to Ohio, that was my last YGS dance. I sure will miss seeing such an amazing event take place. I know the new leadership of YGS will ensure this event continues and is supported in the years to come.

Tomorrow is the beginning of the "Timeout to Read" book drive. The District is collecting books to be donated to a library in Zambia. Please consider donating books that your family no longer uses. We are accepting books for all ages and are excited to see which class donates the most books, as they will earn a pizza party!

This week our Kindergarten and 1st grade students will perform "A Recipe for Friendship" on Tuesday evening. The students are excited to show off their musical talents. We hope you will join us on Tuesday at Autumn Creek Elementary School at 6:30pm for this special evening focusing on friendship.

Wednesday is Culver's Night! Be sure to stop by Culver's and bring the flyer that was sent home with your child so a portion of the proceeds from your purchase can be donated back to the YGS PTO! Click HERE if you need to print a copy of the flyer.

Thursday marks the beginning of our ABC Countdown! Thursday is Animal Day where students can bring stuffed animals to school. Please remember the stuffed animal should be able to fit inside your child's backpack. Friday is Beach Day! Students are encouraged to wear clothes as if they were headed to the beach. No swimsuits please! I'm hoping beach day brings us some warm weather. It sure was a chilly weekend! Click HERE if you need another copy of the ABC Countdown.

On Friday, there is no school for Early Childhood students due to Home Visits. There is school for Kindergarten through 3rd grade students. Should you have any questions, please contact the main office.

Have a wonderful week!

No problem! If your child needs to leave early from school, please inform the office by sending a note or calling prior to 3pm.  The office will be sure to inform your child's teacher and the teacher will ensure your child is packed and ready to be dismissed when requested. However, the office will not call your child down, nor will the teacher send your child down to the office, until you have arrived to pick them up. There could be a change in your plans, such as traffic, which may impact your arrival time. We want to make sure we maximize the amount of instruction time your child has. As soon as you arrive for pick up, we will call your child down to be dismissed. Thank you for understanding and please let the office know if you have questions.
