April 16 - 22, 2018

I hope you enjoyed the wonderful spring weather this weekend. Today we kick off the second week of our 2018 Spring Pledge Drive, and we have our eyes on the end of the drive. Thanks to all of the members who have contributed so far, we are in position to wrap up the drive this week!

If you have received a letter or email asking you to renew your membership, please support WDIY today. Call 610-758-8810 between 6 AM and 9 PM during the week or you can make a secure online donation here anytime.

When you give now to WDIY, you will also be helping to provide books to children in our area who need them the most. WDIY has partnered with Cops 'n' Kids Lehigh Valley and the Renaissance Hotel in Allentown to provide 3 books to children for every $100 we raise during the Spring Pledge Drive.

So far during the drive, our members have triggered a donation providing over 900 books!
Will you join us and help us wrap up our 2018 Spring Pledge Drive this week?

Happy listening,

Paul Willistein and George VanDoren welcome the three winners of the 2018 Student Poetry Project to read their poems live on the air.

At the Movies
"A Quiet Place" is a minimalist horror movie. It's actually more of a suspense-thriller. Oh, there will be beasts. But you only glimpse them until ... well, that would be a spoiler for you. The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic 2020 when creatures rule and are having humanity over for brunch. "A Quiet Place" stars Emily Blunt, wife of the movie's director, John Krasinski. Blunt and Krasinski play wife and husband who must protect their boy and girl (who is deaf) from the monsters, who use sound to hunt their prey. That's why the family communicates in American Sign Language.  Paul Willistein  of the  Lehigh Valley Press  reviews the horror movie.
