DEAR CIM STUDENTS, FAMILIES & FRIENDS,
|
|
I hope you enjoyed a festive 4th of July! Summer at the CIM is cooking, with more than 130 students learning new tunes & songs from our wonderful team of instructors.
CIM students are preparing for a host of fun summer events including the Irish Fair of Minnesota on Harriet Island (August 10-12th) followed by the All-Ireland Fleadh in Drogheda, Ireland. Also keep an eye out for CIM performances at Can Can Wonderland (a children's show with Two Tap Trio on July 28) and Minneapolis' Open Streets Festivals.
Have you heard that fifteen CIM students will be traveling to the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann for the international traditional Irish music competition and 4-day immersive workshop, Scoil Éigse? We are so thrilled to see the enthusiasm for the tradition that we've launched a fundraising campaign to support their trip called
"Help Us Bring the Tradition Home
". In less than a week, we half-way toward our $7500 goal. Thank you for your support so far!
There are still a few summer classes that are starting next week.
- We are looking for two more people to sign up for Chad McAnally's The Music of Turlough O'Carolan class on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30pm. Register by noon on Monday, and we'll run the class!
- Todd's Irish Pub Songs runs Tuesdays from 7:30-8:3pm. Class starts 7/17.
Enjoy the beautiful summer weather and I hope to see you soon.

HELP US BRING THE TRADITION HOME!
|
CIM students played their hearts out at the Midwest Fleadh Cheoil in May, bringing home an astonishing 53 medals from dozens of categories. Many CIM youth musicians and families are on their way to the All-Ireland Fleadh in Drogheda, Ireland, and we're thrilled to represent Minnesota together as a community music school for the second year in a row. But we need your support to make this a reality!
Our goal is to raise $7,500.
A donation of any amount will help us:
- Send Advanced Youth Ensemble co-director Brian Miller to lead and support students as they represent Minnesota at this renowned international music competition.
- Provide scholarships to the Scoil Éigse for each CIM student who makes the trip to Ireland
Thank you for making a tax-deductible donation to help us to leverage this opportunity to forge life-long connections with the next generation of traditional musicians in Ireland.

IRISH FAIR VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
|
Each year in August we celebrate all things Irish at the Irish Fair of Minnesota. We hope you will join us for a weekend full of family-friendly music, dance, crafts, sports, and fun with friends.
We are asking for your help in staffing our information booth to spread the word about the Center for Irish Music's classes and programs.
This is a wonderful way to meet fellow CIM students and families AND to share your enthusiasm for CIM with fair passers-by.
Plan on joining us all three days of the fair to hear great music from our ensembles and instructors - and to cheer them on! We will post a CIM performance schedule in our August newsletter. You can also view the complete schedule (when it is ready) on the Irish Fair's website.
