Open Autonomy Pilot Q&A with John Buszek
John Buszek is the Vice President of Products and Services at AutonomouStuff. He recently took time to answer some questions about the Open Autonomy Pilot, a research initiative that will gather data for open-source Autoware software using an AutonomouStuff Lexus RX450h automated research development platform on a loop in Downtown Peoria, Illinois. The pilot is scheduled to begin June 3.

How is Open Autonomy Pilot different from other projects?

"I think what makes us unique is the fact that this is not something that's for us at AutonomouStuff — this is something that we want to provide to the world. We want anyone to be able to replicate what they're seeing here and create some type of autonomous driving technology based on the achievements we made in Peoria with open source software and with our research vehicle platforms."

Data Intelligence
Complete Simulation Package: Simulation Suite
Selecting simulation software can feel overwhelming, but the team at AutonomouStuff wants to make the process as painless — and productive — as possible. The Simulation Suite now being offered by AutonomouStuff offers end-to-end solutions to assist in creating a custom simulation environment, from HD mapping to interactive simulations. The experts on the AutonomouStuff team can help choose the most appropriate solution at the start — saving time and money in critical stages of development.
Scene creation: RoadRunner from VectorZero
RoadRunner simplifies creation of realistic roads, environments and props. It can create complex features such as roundabouts, intersections and bridges, as well as custom signage and road markings. The scenes are then available for simulation, entertainment, architecture, visualization or artistic purposes.

RoadRunner features include:
  • generation of complex road networks.
  • robust export options.

Simulation at Scale: Metamoto
Metamoto connects developers with advantages through its cloud-based simulation platform , which can be tailored for a wide variety of research and development objectives. Its services include designer scenario creation with multi-sensor simulations across a broad spectrum of environmental parameters.

Metamoto features include:
  • cloud-based platform scaled on demand.
  • simultaneous multi-sensor simulation.

Simulation in Detail: Vires Virtual Test Drive (VTD)
Automated driving systems require complex toolkits to create, configure, render and evaluate virtual environments — mandates fulfilled by the comprehensive Vires Virtual Test Drive (VTD) toolkit. It covers a full range of road- and rail-based developments for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), automated driving and core training simulation, with three-dimensional content and chaotic traffic scenarios.

VTD features include:
  • compatibility with hardware, driver, vehicle and software in the loop applications (HiL, DiL, ViL, SiL)
  • open, modular design.

Learn more about what Vires VTD simulation software has to offer here .

More information about how all three services work together can be found here .

Meet the team: Teng Hoong Swee
We looked far outside our headquarters hometown of Morton to introduce an integral member of the AutonomouStuff team this month. Teng Hoong Swee is the Director of Sales and Business Development in Asia, and he has helped spread the AutonomouStuff brand across the farthest reaches of the globe, including the market in China.

"I wake up everyday and am proud of what I do and how I performed the day before," Swee says of his time working with AutonomouStuff . "Every small step we take will enable our customers to take a big step forward toward the future of autonomy."

We are grateful for the indelible mark that Swee's indefatigable spirit has left on AutonomouStuff!
