Dear SJM Families:

We have just completed our second day of online learning and from all accounts the process is proceeding very well.  We believe this approach puts the SJM community in the strongest position to safeguard students and staff, to allow learning to continue, and to provide future flexibility in our response to this unprecedented set of circumstances.  Our school's leadership team is resolved to support our students and families, especially while navigating our collective way through these uncertain days.  We appreciate everyone's cooperation and trust during this time.

We understand that being away from campus poses new challenges and obligations, but we expect our students to virtually attend class every day so that we may continue to provide a Catholic and college-preparatory education over the coming weeks.  We are heartened in the knowledge that our faculty and our students are uniquely equipped to adapt to this rapidly changing educational landscape.  While it will not be "business as usual", we will do everything we can to provide a meaningful educational experience for our students until we are able to return to campus.

In the meantime, we are available to answer any questions or concerns you may have.  Please direct your questions to the classroom teacher or communications@sjmhs.org.  To meet known and unknown challenges that lie ahead, we remain committed to keeping channels of communication open and doing all we reasonably can to ensure the health, safety and well-being of our community.

A few specific announcements:
We have extended the deadline for the online course requests in PowerSchool through Friday March, 20th.  Registration paperwork will be collected when school resumes.

The SAT School Day that was originally scheduled for March 25th has been rescheduled for April 28th.

The April ACT and May SAT has been postponed in an announcement from the College Board and ACT.  See collegeboard.org and actstudent.org for up to date information.

Reminder that SJM has a full SAT and ACT prep program available through Method Test Prep.  Students can access Method Test Prep through the SJM Naviance page.

There is a plethora of events that are scheduled over the next couple of months and we will keep you informed of any changes to the schedule as these decisions are made.  The priority for all of us to remain safe and out of harm's way.
Please continue to pray for all those affected.  We are grateful for your partnership.

Sincerely,
Mike Burke
