Latest news on how your support changes lives
July 2018

CCS stands alongside NNEDV and our community partners to affirm our ongoing support for the LGBTQIA+ communities during San Diego Pride. All survivors deserve safety and support regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation.

LGBTQIA+ individuals are significantly impacted by domestic violence and face unique barriers to safety. It is critical that LGBTQIA+ survivors never have to consider homophobia and transphobia when accessing resources to increase their safety. Our vision is for all people to live full, free, expressive and empowered lives in a safe, vibrant, healthy and peaceful community.

Thank You to The Cushman Foundation!
We are deeply grateful and humbled to be awarded a Making a Difference in San Diego grant from The Cushman Foundation.

Grant funds will be used to provide a victim advocate who will respond 24/7 to strangulation victims of domestic violence. Studies have shown that survivors of extreme physical assault and strangulation attempts are at high risk for long-term negative health impacts and death.  The Victim Advocate Response Team (VART) will offer advocacy, hospital accompaniment, safety planning and linkage to a comprehensive array of  life-saving services for survivors.  Our team will  enlist partner agencies such as health providers and law enforcement in coordinating intervention strategies to better serve these victims.  Thank you Cushman Foundation for improving the health and safety or our community.
