Power Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) Event on October 25th
PG&E is currently monitoring the weather and reports there is a strong possibility that portions of Marin, including all or most of Fairfax, will be impacted by a Power Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) event on October 25th. PG&E indicates the PSPS will occur as early as 6:00pm on Sunday with power restored Monday or as late as Tuesday morning. For more information, please go to:
PG&E plans to update the information this evening. In the event of a PSPS, the Town will set up charging stations at Town Hall on Monday morning. PG&E will have locations of Community Resource Centers on its website.

2020 ELECTION SPOTLIGHT
Nov. 3rd Polling Place Days/Hours Extended!
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, all active registered voters were automatically sent a vote by mail ballot and the number of polling places was greatly reduced. Voting by mail protects you and the health of poll workers. If you must vote in person, go early to help reduce crowds and long lines. Masks and social distancing are required, along with other cleaning protocols which may also lead to longer wait times.
In Fairfax, the Women's Club at 46 Park Road will serve as the only Polling place. It will be open for 4 days for voting and for dropping off voted ballots starting Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 (from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. ) and Tuesday, November 3 from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. You may drop off your voted ballot at any polling place during the extended 4-day schedule. However, to help reduce crowds and long lines, you may prefer to hand-deliver your voted ballot to one of many ballot drop boxes located throughout Marin County. There is one in front of Fairfax Town Hall, 142 Bolinas Road!

Special Town Council Meeting October 28th
The following items were continued from the 10/21 Special Meeting:
1. Receive report on the Residential Rental Assistance Program.
2. Discuss/consider the concept of holding two regular Council meetings per month.
3. Receive report on the Town’s Business Recovery Programs and provide direction on the extension of the terms of temporary encroachment permits and temporary outdoor use permits beyond the November 30, 2020 expiration date.

MHHS Guidance Outlines Safer Ways to Celebrate Halloween and Dia de los Muertos
With Halloween just around the corner, Marin HHS has released safe celebration guidelines, urging residents to plan at-home and virtual festivities. Marin HHS strongly discourages customary activities like door-to-door trick-or-treating or large multi-household parties, which can be high-risk for COVID-19 transmission.
As an alternative, trick or treat yourself at the Marin Center Halloween Fair Food Drive-Thru Spooktacular. From October 23 to November 1, the Spooktacular will be open from 4pm to 9pm on weekdays and 11am to 9pm on weekends. Don your costumes and prepare to be spooked with family-friendly haunted surprises and activities all while staying inside your car!

County of Marin COVID-19 Updates
With its improving COVID-19 figures, Marin County is in a position to further reopen local business industries no sooner than Tuesday, October 27, if local COVID-19 incidence remains steady or continues to decrease.
On October 22nd, Marin Public Health and Marin Office of Education held a panel discussion earlier today regarding the protocols and best practices for returning to on-site, in-classroom learning. The panel featured:

Fairfax Climate Action Plan Community Forums
Second Monday of each month, from 6:30-7:30pm
Over the next four months, the Climate Action Committee will host meetings to go through the different sections of the Climate Action Plan. Our meetings are public, open to all, and occur on the second Monday of every month, from 6:30 – 7:30.

Email for Reporting Shelter-in-Place (SIP) Violations
The Town has created an on-line process for reporting SIP violations by businesses.
In the email, we ask that you include the business name, address, and as much detail as possible regarding the perceived health order violation. Town staff will follow-up with the businesses regarding the violations. Our goal is to gain compliance by informing and educating businesses of the need to follow shelter-in-place (SIP) orders. All businesses will be given a grace period to comply before additional follow-up actions are taken by staff.
