HoopFest - this weekend!
|
This weekend!
HoopFest - the largest three-on-three outdoor basketball tournament on earth - happens in Spokane this weekend!
That means over 6,000 teams, 3,000 volunteers, 225,000 fans and 450 courts spanning 45 city blocks!
The city's population the rest of the year is 217,000 people so the population of Spokane more than doubles this weekend - wow!
Beyond basketball, it is an outdoor festival with shopping, food, and interactive entertainment.
Learn about Hoopfest, the basketball event, on its official website,
online here.
Learn about HoopFest, the community event, on the VisitSpokane website,
online here.
That HoopFest was born here is no surprise.
Spokane is Hooptown USA.
It just happened on its own.
Organically.
Because of who we are and because of our community's passions.
Spokesman-Review editor Rob Curley writes more about Spokane's passion for hoop as the 30th HoopFest is about to begin.

Eliminating Barriers to Affordable Housing
|
|
Official White House photo
|
As homebuilding languishes near its lowest level in 60 years - contributing to a nationwide housing shortage that has pushed home prices up and battered affordability - President Donald Trump, this week, signed an executive order (EO) to ease or, in some cases, eliminate rules that have been blamed for blocking greater construction of affordable housing.
