WhoNed Johnson - well known artist in Southwest Virginia, grew up in Wythe County and in 1975 received a Bachelors of Arts degree from Emory and Henry College. He credits much of his art education to his friend and mentor, the late George Chavatel, who was an art professor at the college. After teaching art in the public schools in Marion, Virginia for 30 years and painting at nights and on weekends, Ned retired in 2005 and now enjoys spending entire days producing art. He produces works in a variety of media including oils, acrylics, watercolors, woodburnings and pen and ink drawings.

LAMPLIGHT THEATRE PRESENTS THE FINAL SCOURGE: OCTOBER 2 - OCTOBER 31
"The Final Scourge" take place in a small American town. The natural disasters and famine that these town folk experiences are nothing compared to the zoonotic virus headed their way. This disease causes zombie-like symptoms, and wreaks mayhem on its victims and the audience. Experience a cataclysmic series of prophetic events preceded by the ominous arrival of each Horsemen. Due to its true-to-life situations and scary images, this show is rated PG-13

Performances will be weekends October 2nd through 31st. There will be two shows on Fridays and Saturdays at 6:30PM & 9PM. Sunday night performances at 6:30PM. One special matinee performance on opening weekend on Sunday, October 4th at 3PM. 

The show's seating is general admission at $11. No reservations are necessary; however, they are recommended to guarantee times and seating. Concessions and gift shop will be available from 5:30PM-9PM.

NORTHEAST STATE SHORT TERM TRAINING CARES FOUNDATION GRANT
Northeast State's Foundation has been awarded a TN Community CARES grant in the amount of $251,467. This grant will be used to provide workforce training for individuals who have lost jobs or income due to COVID-19.
 
Individuals can register now to get started with short-term training options at no cost. These options include, but are not limited to, Certified Production Technician (CPT), National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC), and Work Ready Certificates of Completion in areas such as maintenance, safety, and operator training. Basic workplace computer and project management courses are also on the menu.
 
Time is short, and funds are limited. Individuals can register NOW through November 11. The classes must be completed by Dec. 30. For more information and details on specific training options, please visit www.northeaststate.edu/shorttermtraining.
